Programmer Writer

The Content team is looking for an experienced Programming Writer to help document protocols, algorithms, file formats, and other types of technologies that are implemented in and used company products. As a member of our team, you will:

• Work directly with developers, test engineers, architects, and program managers to gain and apply subject matter expertise in system-level, cross-technology, and technology-specific documentation
• Review product source code and network traffic to investigate and learn implementation semantics, behaviors, and other technical details
• Create and revise customer-facing specifications to ensure that they are precise, accurate, complete, comply with editorial guidelines, and adhere to structural and formatting standards
• Respond to feedback from professional developers, testers, and support engineers
• Learn and adhere to content-development processes and content standards, and collaborate with other talented and experienced content publishers to improve those processes and standards

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent technical and communication skills, and be able to learn new tools, processes, standards, and guidelines quickly. You should also have a proven ability to work independently on multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment, be goal-oriented and committed to meeting deadlines, and have an intense appreciation for documenting technical details. In addition, you should have the following skills and experience:

• Four or more years of experience authoring documentation for a developer audience
• Proven ability to read and write code in C# and C/C++ and to develop documentation about that code
• Experience developing and documenting Web application and services
• Experience reading and understanding RFC-style documentation; experience writing RFC-style documentation is a significant plus
• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, English, Journalism, or a related field
• Knowledge of networking principles and architecture (preferred)
