Production Specialist - Cataloger

We have an opportunity at this large Enterprise tech company with their asset management database and services team. The asset management services allow the company's enterprise level customers to manage and track and manage their company’s assets (i.e. software application licenses). 

Cataloging 
This role will research and catalog customer data in the Asset Inventory Service. You will work with a large database/catalog of software application signatures (containing key values such as publisher, title and version) and upon online research, will determine whether they are valid, licensed, and from a known publisher. Some signatures are unknown (i.e. Office) or not easily recognizable. Each signature then is searched and reviewed in the database and cataloged or created, if necessary, then mapped and released to the client. The database is restored and queries are run on a monthly basis to determine researcher priority and to provide metrics for evaluation. 


Tasks to be completed as part of the software signature evaluation include the following: 

• Review signatures and conduct research to determine if it is a valid licensed application from a known publisher. 
• Create, or edit, or update the entries within approved cataloging style guidelines. 
• Classify large amounts of data according to existing taxonomies, and refine editorial rules to aid in automatic classification of similar sets of data. 
• Make decisions about when to lump and when to split identities. 
• Resolve issues as they occur including items that are misclassified. 
• Provide weekly production metrics report. 

Skills Required: 
• Excellent research skills. 
• Experience with management of taxonomies and data classification. 
• Experience with Excel, and able to do simple SQL queries 
• Degree (Bachelor or Master) in Library Science preferred or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
