Production Project Manager

We're seeking an experienced Project Manager to work on-site at one of our client's in New Jersey. The role will support our client's visual branding across packaging, collateral, promotion projects, and facilitate communication with our plants.


Project timing

Create and maintain formal project timelines which may be distributed to the cross-functional teams
Initiate and monitor timing expectations at project onset and establish priorities.
Monitor and communicate timing of all deliverables.
Coordinate and communicate timeline changes.


Create PDP Design exploration files based on marketing objectives, brand standards, and production readiness.
Present and review design solutions to client and make any discussed revisions while maintaining version control.
Contact print vendors/co-packers with design feasibility questions as necessary.
Create All Panel Layout (APL) of chosen design file on final die to insure print feasibility and final client approval.
Build paper mockups of final APL to ensure art is oriented correctly.
Track and report design time to Sales Lead for accurate and up to date billing.
Review and convey to production team any new or revised client procedures.

Facilitate project deliverables:

Printer specifications.
Organize and attend Pre-Production meetings – include cross-functional team members as needed.
UPC numbers.
Nutrition & Ingredient Facts.
Other package requirements as specified.
Maintain dieline database.
Maintain printer color target standards of new designs via established loose color process.
QC and proofread any items returned from before turnover to the client.
Carefully review printer proofs against approved art and client documentation.
Ship, receive, track and distribute job-related items.

Coordinate, assemble and review information for prepress production

Obtain art files from the art/design firm. Open and review electronic files as needed.
Collect input on final design relative to production issues.
Provide clear and complete information to the production facility regarding timing, specifications and other client expectations.
Prepare and route files.
Review color with Creative Services to ensure accurate communication to the production facility.
Advise on printability issues and design file improvements that can be made early in a job’s lifecycle.

Manage Artwork Routing via Remote Approval (RA) Online Proofing (OLP):

Manage / Track all artwork routing for client.
Review revisions with client Brand Design and communicate changes to plant.
Oversee the training of client team members on Remote Approval.
Field questions that arise from the plant related to comments within RA or otherwise.

Miscellaneous ongoing management

Fulfill internal and external requests for brand and package assets (3D images, layered package files, logos etc.)
Assist in any additional responsibilities as directed by client (spreadsheets, reports, etc.).
Anticipate additional client needs and communicate with sales and project managers.
Monitor and track quality. Report weekly to the production facility.
Batch process requested images to adhere to targeted sales vendor web specs
Organize, review, and archive completed Jobs making sure assets and routing history are available to clients
Identify, problem solve and advise on any SOPs that can be modified to create a more efficient workflow

Desired Skills and Experience

Two years pre-press experience (preferably packaging pre-press).
Two years customer service/project management experience working on site at a customer or within a prepress environment.
Strong communication and people skills.
Experience using Adobe CS to produce electronic keylining; packaging file experience strongly preferred.
