Production Operator for global company in Times Square!

Our global professional services client is in need of someone in our New York Times Square print shop to work from 3pm to midnight on the second shift during the next few months. This needs to be someone with experience in working with high level printers and finishing equipment and quick to pick up on our operation to be helpful in a very short period of time. This is a fast paced environment at night and the team works independently in production type atmosphere.

This position is responsible for Creative Services Group (CSG) reproduction projects, utilizing the photocopy and finishing equipment. Will use proficient skills to utilize binding, laminating, folding and cutting equipment and knowledge of reprographic machines. Responsible for maintaining supply inventories and using computer knowledge of basic applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat) in their daily duties. Serves as project manager and works effectively in a team environment. Acts as a project manager; communicates and negotiates project deadlines, project scope, cost estimates and schedule changes as necessary.

Other responsibilities include the following:

• Works effectively with Customer Service Coordinators and project managers to produce (on a production level) projects of various scope and complexity
• Works effectively with customers to provide alternative solutions and to understand requirements of the work request
• Completes work requests utilizing black and white and color digital photocopy machines, including setup, quality control and cleanup
• Troubleshoots technical problems with all machinery, including paper jams and ink flow problems; works effectively with copier maintenance vendors
• Prints Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Acrobat PDF files in color and black and white
• Operates finishing equipment (3-hole drill, bindery, laminating, folder, cutter, etc.)
• Uses various scanning/copier equipment to create Acrobat PDF files from hard-copy format
• Pursues and shares leading practices within department and among ESS/CSG staff
• Performs electronic file management and archiving
• Assists with digital prepress (i.e., printing from electronic files to various digital print devices)
• Assists with daily color calibrations and routine operator maintenance on reproduction equipment
• Cross-trains in additional CSG functions to provide flexibility
• Utilizes the CSGcom database to make certain all time and materials are billed correctly and project instructions and customer interactions are fully documented
• Excels in developing team momentum through being a great team promoting and sharing leading practices with ESS/CSG staff
• Accurately assesses project requirements, identifies issues, makes decisions and provides solutions
• Breaks problems down into manageable parts, applying simple problem-solving techniques

Experience/Required Skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service and teamwork skills
• Knowledge/background with both copy and printSome
• Knowledge of basic computer applications
• Advanced knowledge of repro machines (copiers, binding equipment, laminator, cutter, stapler, etc.) and good finishing skills
• Ability to troubleshoot (and potentially fix) copiers/other machinesSpeed and accuracy are crucial to this position
• Understands and strictly adheres to the client's quality standards and procedures, including CSG standards and guidelines
• Advanced knowledge of the firm brand; raises awareness of the brand
• Approximately 1-3 years of related experience

Education
High school diploma, or equivalent work experience
