The Senior Global Production Manager will work with Global Design Managers to manage the design team's daily activities. While the Design team focuses on the creative product, it is the role of the Senior Global Production Manager to ensure that the design team has what it needs from a resource allocation, equipment, technical and budgetary standpoint.

Position Description and Responsibilities:
Create, manage, and audit the overall design process.

Manage overall work flow and the effective capacity/output of the team in
response to product development pipeline and forecast. Monitor and ensure that
the team is resourced appropriately to keep pace with the work flow coming from
the Product Development and Marketing teams. Develop and manage a system for
adding resources quickly to satisfy the changing needs of the business.

Establish objectives for the design team in relation to accuracy, efficiency,
transparency, and quality. Develop and maintain tools and mechanisms that
promote the quality of the final design product.

Build and maintain a close and direct relationship with key partners including
Schawk Pre-press Group designated print vendors and translators.

Produce and maintain master production schedules and budgets in partnership
with R&D. Provide frequent and regular program updates in pursuit of reaching
key milestones within the PACE Process.

Work with the PCR Team on the development of business justification planning
for all PCR projects (costs and identification of SKU's / parts effected by a given
request.)

Create and manage the annual operational budget for the design team.

Create master program timelines to educate and inform commercial stakeholders
about the design process and the time required to execute the process.

Support businesses, manufacturing plants and regional offices ensuring
that packaging and product labeling materials are developed, produced and
implemented within the guidelines established by the product development
strategies.

Consult directly with Corporate Legal, Patent and Trademark Groups to ensure
proper use of patents and trademarks on all diabetes care materials.

Own and operate the weekly production meeting for the design team.

Responsible for the evolution and maintenance of the Schawk Blue software
system. This includes the management of an on-site Schawk staff member who
will run the day-to-day "Blue" activities. These include:

file upload and archiving

Troubleshooting

Uploading of all approved files to SAP

Maintain current knowledge of International, US, and company rules/regulations
governing packaging and design process and ensure compliance with the
requirements.

Manage the design team workflow process and its role in the larger corporate
product development process.

Manage the initiation of projects, and provide input for new product
development budgets to Marketing and Core Team Leaders. Lead the interaction
with key development teams at Bayer Diabetes Care including:

R&D , LMR, QA/RA, Product Supply

Element Teams

Develop and implement a regular and structured measurement system for speed,
efficiency, and quality.

Contribute to the selection of artists, designers, and other vendors required
to produce quality packaging product for use by customers worldwide and to
ensure consistency of product appearance worldwide. Explore and leverage
as appropriate the very best external resources to complement internal team's
capabilities such as:

Design Firms/Identity

Copywriters

Packaging groups

Translators

Illustrators

Pre-Press

Ensure that design is properly deployed throughout the organization and
contributes to the new product development process in pursuit of a better
customer experience.

The candidate will possess:
Bachelors degree (BA, BFA) in Business, Life Sciences, Marketing
Communications, Engineering or other technical discipline, with 8 -10 yrs
experience in project management in Advertising Agencies, Design Firms,
Consumer Products companies, Pharmaceutical Companies, Medical Device
groups.
Excellent people management skills are necessary to effectively lead and manage
Packaging and Design process and team activities; interactions required within the
Division and Corporation.
Well-honed interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to work closely
with people at all levels of management and technical expertise
Outstanding partnering and vendor management skills to manage relationships
with outside agencies, freelance creatives, and other vendors.
An understanding of the packaging industry, typography, printing technology, and
the graphics arts industry

Experienced in attending/evaluating initial print runs for packaging and collateral materials and have the ability to dissect and analyze graphic art files for quality, accuracy and production efficiency.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe CS4.
Experience in developing packaging, point of sale, promotional and other consumer materials across several brands/categories.
Developing and operating annual budget.
Experience working on premium brands, badge brands and/or technology led brands.
Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organization and/or within the constraints of a global brand is a plus.
Experience managing creative departments - either in-house or for an agency - including complex project portfolios, budgets etc.
Strong strategic sense - ability to focus on big picture while opening up creative avenues.
