The Graphic Designer is responsible for collaborating with Marketing, Sales and Manufacturing teams, vendors and key stakeholders across the organization to formulate creative and relevant design and presentation concepts. Additionally, the Graphic Designer will create packaging; product information sheets, product labels and other print and electronic assets. The Graphic Designer is considered to be a professional-level user of various design mediums, including creative design software, typography and digital photography.

The Graphic Designer is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective graphic design and production specification processes are followed, files are well controlled, and managed according to company standards. He/she will recommend and drive improvements in file maintenance, tracking, standardization and documentation.

The successful incumbent will participate in, facilitate, and/or manage a range of projects from concept to implementation that may affect products, web design and user interface, product catalogs and information sheets, and presentations.


PRIMARY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Pro-actively solicit input to ensure understanding of objectives, customer/vendor requirements, constraints, assembly requirements, and other relevant information/resources.
  • Translate input provided by the creative team, marketing team and copywriter into completed print and electronic assets.
  • Conduct reviews to identify errors and inaccuracies to ensure all copy is error free, while being delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Use discerning judgment to select the best quality images, color correct, crop and resize, remove background (clipping paths), save in multiple formats and resolutions, distribute files to appropriate locations on the LAN and FTP servers.
  • Review and approve vendor proofs for accuracy, color, quality, reproducibility.
  • Maintain and improve electronic system for saving graphic designs, images, and other print and electronic assets.
  • Manages processes, documentation and work flow in a systematic, effective, and appropriate manner to increase overall effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with creative leader, copywriter, purchasing, and vendors.
  • Utilize standardized procedures and processes as appropriate for creating packaging, labels, product information sheets and brochures.
  • Communicate design activities and statuses, including changes, to all stake holders.
  • Provide coordination and follow through on various tasks and projects.




  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor degree in graphic design, or relevant area of study; or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3 years experience in a directly related graphics design position.
  • Two years experience managing projects from concept to post-implementation review.
  • Expert-level skills using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Highly proficient using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledgeable of file transfer processes, to local or FTP servers.
  • Professional skills using digital photography equipment and programs.
  • Able to provide highly detail oriented, precise, and accurate information within specified timelines.
  • Accurately reads and interprets design specifications.
  • Uses leadership skills to influence and affect positive change throughout the organization.
  • Constructively and appropriately indentifies, understands and overcomes barriers.
  • Uses a methodical and holistic approach to problem solving, while selecting and using the appropriate tools to aid the process.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to pro-actively communicate design and product concepts, recommendations, user considerations, and other relevant information in large and small group settings.
  • Effectively overcomes obstacles and difficult interactions to achieve, win-win outcomes.
  • Communicates professionally and respectfully, using various mediums, with executives, managers and co-workers across all business units, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Uses a high degree of self-awareness to modify communication styles to meet differing needs.
  • Demonstrates results orientation.
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Able to work overtime as needed to ensure on-time completion of projects.
  • Strong ability to initiate and drive activities through to completion and with minimal supervision.
  • Highly detail oriented.
