POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Designer is responsible for effectively interpreting customer design specs and/or
layouts to execute final production-ready files. The Production Designer works efficiently within a team
of designers on mechanicals and maintains a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
The Production Designer demonstrates a keen attention to detail and a thorough understanding of
typography, image manipulation, proofreading, preflight, prep and inspection of files for final output.
The individual will also assist the Lead Designer and/or Studio Supervisor in improving methods, and
works with all company staff to meet the needs and expectations of the customers of the client.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Understands the company mission and core values
2. Executes advanced skills in mechanical assembly using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and
FlightCheck
3. Executes design and mechanical assembly functions with a high level of accuracy
4. Proofreads copy revisions and inspects document construction and accuracy of element layout
5. Reads and comprehends job ticket information and information documented on other tools for
design and mechanical page assembly as stated in the Systems Effectiveness Information
6. Inspects and preflights all file elements including image resolution, file integrity and copy decks
7. Maintains proper set-up and ensures all files are compliant with brand guidelines and legal
mandatories
8. Meets and exceeds client expectations, communicating job status to Lead Production Designer or
team to ensure all deadlines are met
9. Assists other design teams, art directors or supervisors on assignments as requested
10. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Experience:
 College degree preferred
 5+ years of graphic design production experience required
 Prepress print production experience preferred

2. Skills/Knowledge:
 Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
 Highly organized and able to produce high-quality, accurate mechanical files in a timely
fashion
 Ability to focus on project details in relation to the larger project scope and meet deadlines
 Strong team player with the ability to communicate and collaborate cross functionally
 Effectively organizes work, plans well, and is able to meet schedules and deadlines
 Cooperative and is open to change, constructive criticism, new ideas, and company initiatives
 Able to perform under pressure and manage stress
 Reliable, punctual and rarely absent
 Demonstrates ability to make reliable judgments when handling work problems, and uses
common sense, logic and critical thinking
 Is self-motivated, generates new ideas, takes corrective action or makes improvements
 Works well with others to meet departmental goals
 Versatile; willing to perform job-related functions and assignments as required
3. Physical Demands:
 Required to frequently sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods
 Required to occasionally lift/move objects in excess of 25 lbs.
 Must have the visual, hearing and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential
functions defined above
4. Environment and Scheduling
 Hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
 Employee must be flexible and available to work overtime and weekend hours when
necessary
 Work is performed in an office setting
 Work involves occasional exposure to non-toxic chemicals
