Product Tech Specialist

Responsible for creating the development process and technical aspects of assigned apparel, accessory and/or equipment products by collaborating closely with cross functional partners and contract manufacturers to ensure that design integrity, quality, and target price are met/maintained and that products are developed within established timelines.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provide and ensure accuracy of critical computer data and technical garment illustration and construction details for seasonal styles and the PDM (product data management) process.
· Ensure bill of materials, specification, measurements, and construction comments are maintained and accurate and communicated to appropriate downstream partners.
· Ensure color details and lab dips are entered and accurate in PDM system.
· Work with team members to ensure that calendar deadlines are met.
· Shepherd prototype creation from initial specification creation through first and second prototype to fit approval.
· Partner with cross functional team on sales sample evaluation
· Review factory prototypes for accuracy, quality and function. Communicate findings to the appropriate persons including, Design/Merchandising, Sourcing and the LO Merchandising team and make necessary notations for sketch updates.
· Set up Fit Sessions with the Team and execute necessary follow-up communication with Liaison Office partners. When styles are approved, move to fit approval and production status of BOM.
· In some categories, assist with the creation and coloring of CAD yarn dyes and/or prints. Build and maintain yarn dye or print artwork color ways and strike off approval related data in PDM throughout the season.
· Assist CCM and Sr. Product Engineer on projects/garments as needed.
· Maintain reports, records, files, and samples pertaining to the process or styles.
· Read related research and understand the market and how it pertains to Columbia Sportswear; keep abreast of product sales information.
· Working knowledge of fabrics and trims associated with the development process.
· Ensure quality is maintained to established standards. Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

· College degree or equivalent with course work in textiles, manufacturing or related experience and/or one to three years’ experience in garment development or related field OR equivalent work experience in the garment industry.
· Two to three years garment design/development experience in the apparel industry. Experience with outdoor industry and apparel category preferred.
