Product Marketing Specialist - Content

Our Fortune 500 client in the payment technology space is looking for an experienced Product Marketing Specialist to support the development of detailed product materials for agencies and sales teams to use for demand generation. This role involves communication and interacting intelligently around products and their market dynamics around e-commerce and mobile commerce.

This position resides in the SF bay area and is a 1 year contract role with potential for extension. If you are interested in this role, please see submittal directions at the bottom of this post.*

Working under the direction of senior product marketing managers, the Product Marketing Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of our product marketing strategy, worldwide. We are seeking a product marketing professional with a proven track record of success. Responsibilities will focus largely on content development (presentations, whitepapers, datasheets, infographics, and other related tools) for sales and campaign enablement, but will also include buyer journey mapping, positioning and value proposition development (the story).

Education/Experience
o Bachelors degree in business/marketing or equivalent training required.
o 3-5 years of B2B product marketing/management experience for high technology business. Background preferably includes marketing of enterprise-class solutions targeting Finance, Operations and IT professionals such as enterprise software, BPM, or SaaS based-solutions. Knowledge of eCommerce operations and payment services helpful.

Key Responsibilities

Market Analysis and Messaging
• Support segmentation/targeting work (with Product Management).
• Help identify, characterize and map competitive landscape and enabling partners.
• Help map buyer journey: key roles, content needs, and develop buyer personas.
• Build value proposition, positioning, and messaging.

Sales and Campaign Enablement
• Build campaign enablement content (with Global Programs/Marcom) for buyer roles to consume; content to be available in a variety of formats: white papers, brochures, social media, copy blocks, web pages, etc.
• Provide content for web site(s).
• Collaborate with sales on sales enablement plan.
• Lead or assist in creation of sales enablement content for direct and indirect sales resources (playbooks, battlecards, scripts, collateral, competitive comparison guides, presentations, training modules, and demos).
• Understand win rate (and loss) and take action to adjust and maximize win rate.

Skills
• Ability to quickly assess and understand merchant business processes, understand how payment and payment security technologies can be applied to improve results, and synthesize into meaningful, quantifiable, differentiated business improvements and messaging. A systems thinker.
• Strong writing, analytical and presentation skills. Ability to understand complex processes and technologies, and translate into simple concepts (written, graphical, architectural, and verbal). Strong command of Word, PowerPoint and Excel applications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop impactful, fact-based, sales-usable product and value proposition stories (requires strong analytical and creative thought processes). Has ability to “see” the unseen story, generate story from disparate pieces. Knowledge of Miller Heiman sales methodology helpful.
• Proven ability to create decision-oriented sales tools (solution/organization maturity phases, ROI tools, configuration tools, competitive comparisons, etc.).
• Proven ability to drive creation of campaign content and assets (whitepapers, infographics, videos, etc.) to support demand generation campaigns.
• Ability to analyze information collected from win/loss interviews and pipeline behavior (conversion rates and velocity) to detect breakdowns in the marketing and sales process.
• Ability to build relationships across the organization
• Strong business acumen, collaborative, highly organized. Sound project management skills.
