Product Marketing Manager

Our Fortune 500 customer on the north side of Indianapolis is seeking a Product Marketing Manager for their product sold in DIY, big box, retail stores.

The Product Manager is responsible for the product lifecycle from conception to obsolescence.

Nature & Scope:

Accountability for this position is the Kitchen segment of the Retail channel. Key to success is collaboration with retail customers and retail sales ahead of the line review and meeting retail customer schedule, margin requirements and retail price points. Marketing lead on the Retail NPD team activities and provides leadership on what product and when it is needed.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Manage the Retail Kitchen product line by establishing scope of the product offerings in terms of price points, features and benefits within the context of the brand strategy and competitive set.
• Manage new product development to bring competitive products to line review. Proactively evolve the product offering in light of business trends including consumer, customer and manufacturing.
• Ensure financial targets are met through the conception/prioritization of new product development, product management and value engineering initiatives.
• Consistently analyze the competitive mix to ensure client products in the aisle are priced right.
• Meet with customers and understand their changing requirements. Serve a key role as liaison between Sales/customers and NPD teams.
• Constructively challenging current thinking on processes and driving the organization towards elimination of waste ($ and time)
• Bring meaningful innovation to the aisle to differentiate from the competition.


The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. in a business or engineering-related field (advanced degree (MBA) desirable) and 4 or more years of practical marketing/product development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft office applications required. Experience in building products and channels are preferred. Successful candidate will possess demonstrated project management skills, highly developed communication skills and solid design-sense.

Demonstrated ability to objectively analyze data is required. Must be able to excel in a team environment and have a well-developed understanding of sales and marketing strategies.
