Product Marketing Manager

Position Summary: As Product Marketing Manager, Advertising Products, you will be responsible for bringing new advertising products to market and driving demand for new and existing products. The Product Marketing Manager will craft positioning and messaging that resonates with buyers and work with sales to deliver the message effectively. You will serve as the primary liaison to sales including assistance with sales proposals, responding to advertiser questions, creating sales presentations, and coordinating with internal teams such as product management, design, ad operations, research and analytics, editorial, and public relations. The Product Marketing Manager must be knowledgeable in digital display advertising, the automotive category, and the media planning and buying process.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
• Write presentation decks for the sales team
o Gather and understand research data and turn it into a story that sells
o Examples of decks include:
• Overview of client's mobile and tablet products and stats
• New advertising product launch decks
• Create sales tools and materials for ad product launches
o Update ad product catalog gathering product definition from product management and writing the value proposition and positioning statements
o Updating all the details about how the product works and is sold
o Articulating the value of the product from the media planner/buyer’s perspective
o Documenting competitive landscape and our competitive advantage
o Create launch marketing plan
o Develop external presentation decks, talking points and support materials for the Sales Team
• Help sales respond to RFPs (requests for proposal)
o Matching current products to advertiser needs, as well as working with the team to come up with new product concepts to fill unmet advertiser needs (custom solutions)
o Managing the proposal process from beginning to end by coordinating with sales, user experience design, visual design, product management, producers, research/analytics and other groups as applicable (PR, consumer marketing)
o Ability to run creative brainstorm sessions, contribute ideas, consolidate input and work with various teams to ensure executional feasibility while developing materials to help explain/sell the idea
o Pulling various pieces of information together in a sales deck
o May be asked to accompany sales rep on advertiser sales call (via phone or in-person) to help present the deck or answer Product related questions
• Put together media plans
o Match advertising products to advertisers’ needs
o Proficient in basic media math and Excel
• Impressions
• CPM (cost per thousand) calculation
• CTR (click through rate) calculation
• CPA (cost per action) calculation
• Able to write formulas in Excel

Essential skills, knowledge and abilities:
• 5+ years combined advertising experience for a high volume consumer website or media agency.
• Strong understanding of digital media planning and buying process, as well as automotive category.
• Ability to identify advertiser needs and problems through direct interaction, and inform product positioning, value proposition, and messaging accordingly.
• Ability to translate technical capabilities into benefits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to both internal and external customer groups.
• Track record of success and career advancement with ability to thrive in a dynamic, competitive industry.
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Must have excellent PowerPoint skills for creating proposals.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
