Nature and Scope: Working on conceptual low carbon initiative. The Product Manager works in conjunction with the Mass Marketing Product Development team and plays a vital role in the evaluation and development of products for the residential market. This team works on customer propositions to support the 2 main objectives of the B2C business: become profitable and grow. These customer propositions will be dedicated to existing customers or part of an acquisition programme. Undertaking sufficient activity to support ‘proof of concept’ and develop the market for low carbon products through partnerships and lobbying government.

The development process consists of:

• Evaluation of existing technologies and innovation of new products
• Developing product proposition
• Developing the business case, financials and internal approvals for product development
• Sourcing the product/service and maintaining 3rd party relationships
• Market and competitor research and forecast development Defining and delivering internal/operational processes and customer journey
• Ongoing maintenance of customer journey
• The products developed must be consistent with the B2C strategy and should support Energy Service objectives

Principal Accountabilities:

1.Work in conjunction with the Team Manager to evaluate and develop product propositions.

• Evaluation of existing technologies and services and define future developments for low carbon energy products within B2C
• Analysis of technical, financial and market data and presentation of recommendations to senior management and directors
• Analyse existing products to determine where the products are within the lifecycle, and make sound recommendations to senior management to support the customer growth strategy
• Research existing and future market trends, competitor offerings and energy policy
• Provide support and advice to Policy & Regulation around low carbon technologies
2.Innovation of new products or services

• Ability to think creatively to define new product concepts
• Evaluation of current technologies
• Keep up to date on new technology and market developments and competitor activity
3.Developing product proposition

• Develop new concepts
• Evaluate new products and services to a concept level to gain business approval and ensure features set out in research are deliverable
• Work with B2C teams to create compelling customer propositions/bundles in line with the Energy Service strategy
• Develop low carbon products or services , with the ability to understanding all technology and or service features for each product
• Project manage new products to ensure that they are ready for delivery within agreed timescales and budgets
• Ensure customer, supplier and contractor health and safety guidelines are followed during product development process
4.Developing the business case, financials and internal approvals for product development
