Product Manager

Our top publishing client is looking for a Product Manager to join a highly collaborative and fast-moving team dedicated to building the next generation of learning and practice tools within higher education. This position will support the Sr. Software Product Manager in continuing to build and grow our Software Platform. This includes working very closely with other product managers, operation managers, and engineers to gather feature requirements, identify and resolve production defects, and prioritize the backlog to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. These high-intensity, high-profile initiatives demand a high degree of flexibility and willingness to work hands-on to achieve aggressive release targets with significant market potential. Candidates do not need extensive IT knowledge, but must understand general IT terminology and working environments.

Primary Responsibilities
- Act as liaison between engineering, product, and operations management teams to identify and resolve customer facing content & product metadata discrepancies.
- In collaboration with product leadership and a dispersed cross-functional team (e.g. Content, Operations, UX, Development, QA, etc.) evaluate decisions and solutions, define, and prioritize product requirements.
- Create user stories and acceptance criteria for recurring production issues and new feature requirements.
- Work closely with offshore engineering, quality assurance, and project management teams to scope efforts, identify and manage dependencies, and address roadblocks.
- Assist in the validation of completed user stories and epics.
- Attend weekly backlog ceremonies, won’t be required to attend daily SCRUM meetings.
- Coordinate between US and international based teams, and may work up to two evening hours per week (between 8:30p - 9:30p MST).

Minimum Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or appropriate combination of education and experience.

Minimum Required Skills

- Minimum of 2 years project coordination, business analysis, or project management experience with demonstrated success defining and building digital or web-based products.
- Experience with stakeholder management and translating customer needs to action.
- Exceptional problem solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills and proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Effective communication skills, ability to speak to multiple teams and understand their lingo.
- Very strong attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and attention to detail.
- Highly collaborative nature to lead and thrive in team environments.
- A desire to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment with multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

- Experience functioning as a product owner in an agile software development team.
- Experience leading the development of new products in the education technology or digital media fields.
- Experience with product platforms that rely on integrated services from other teams.
- Experience with JIRA.
- Experience coordinating projects in different time zones
- Experience with pdf corrections and alterations for proper print production is a plus.
