Product Manager (API Consumer Advocate)

0 people like this description

Want to build a great API Platform? We should talk! We are looking for the right candidate to help shape the future state of our API Consumer experience and work with funded delivery teams to quickly bring these capabilities to market.

We think big and do big things. We were the first company to develop and offer mass customization and personalization of credit card products, and we have been innovating relentlessly ever since. Today we are a high-tech company, a scientific laboratory, and a nationally recognized brand all in one that reaches tens of millions of consumers.

We’re looking for a self-driven product manager with a strong software development background to work as an API Platform Product Manager in our Enterprise product group. You’ll work across all of our digital products and help developers - both internal and external - make the most out of our API Platform.

This position’s focus will primarily be on our API consuming developer audience - working to understand and create the best possible experience for anyone working with our APIs. This will include taking feedback to our API producing teams to continually improve our API products.

If you’d like to reach more than 50 million customers with your ideas, then we just might be the right move. We’re the world’s first bank where it’s OK to color outside the lines. We disrupted what’s “normal” 25 years ago and we haven’t looked back since.

Responsibilities:
- Work with our developer community to understand consumption issues and turn those insights into backlog items
- Gather developer and other stakeholder feedback to validate that the product works against stated metrics. Prioritize and deliver necessary enhancements
- You enjoy writing code and would be excited to do so to create documentation and support assets
- Define, analyze and communicate platform product roadmap aligned with business objectives and supported by business cases, market research, customer data and competitive analysis
- Promote and create developer and customer loyalty through highly innovative, quality driven product strategies and feature sets
- Document and prioritize product specifications including goals, use cases and requirements
- Work with a cross-functional team to translate customer needs and technology directions into new features and services
- Product owner responsibilities within an agile team, specifically documenting user stories and acceptance criteria for new and existing platform functionality

Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:
- You love APIs and believe in their potential to transform industries.
- You are comfortable spending as much time working in PowerPoint as you are your favorite IDE
- You relish gains achieved by designing easy-to-use APIs that expose sophisticated functionality.
- You understand the current landscape of API Platforms and how they benefit internal and external strategies
- You understand what differentiates sample code, SDKs, wrappers, and function libraries from each other and have the ability to create them yourself in at least one language
- You can differentiate between good and poor API design & documentation and can articulate incremental changes to improve API design and consumption
- You can communicate business requirements to technical teams and vice versa. You feel at ease in complex environments.
- You’ve spent enough time producing or consuming APIs to explain how they work and can demonstrate real examples. You should be able to point us to something you’ve built.
- You can work and travel independently with unwavering professionalism and we would trust you to always represent our brand.

We need strong, seasoned, technical product managers who are comfortable working with local and remote development teams and who have experience in both Agile and Traditional Software development models.
