Product Manager - EMV Chip Card

The small emerging Payments team at a large F100 company is looking for a dynamic Product Manager Consultant to manage the ongoing management of Merchant Acceptance on the networks. While this will be focused on the chip card conversion, this person will also have responsibility for merchant acceptance with digital payments, magnetic stripe cards, or other form factors that may be developed. for a long term (6 month+) contract assignment. It’s an exciting time in the Payments industry with the US conversion of EMV/Chip Card, and growing interest in Contactless/NFC technologies.

This is an onsite role in San Francisco 40 hours/ week. 6 months (with potential to extend).

They will monitor acceptance at merchants and aide in testing functionality. This individual will work in tight partnership with stakeholders across the enterprise, networks, acquirers, and terminal providers.

Responsibilities:
- The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring our EMV/Chip cards work effectively on the networks and at POS with the ongoing conversion of the US market.
- The Product Manager will be responsible for understanding, monitoring and mitigating risks from an information security, credit risk, fraud and/or operational risk lens, all while furthering the customer experience and value of EMV/Chip Cards.
- Conduct root cause analysis on reasons why EMV transactions fail on networks.
- Track down nuance issues with EMV acceptance: 1) incorrect terminal set up, and 2) several merchants use post authorization tokenization/encryption, and what are the ramifications to card usage and acceptance.
This team will work directly with Visa, American Express, First Data, our card vendors and other vendors such as Verifone, NCR that play a core role in the maintenance and ongoing management of this product.
**Travel up to 25% for testing terminals as needed**

Minimum Quals:
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making tactics.
- Technical ability and expertise to understand systems, how they interact and related dependencies.
- Proven ability to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of EMV/Chip Card specifications (Payment, Identity, Government, etc.)
- Ability to multi task and prioritize between key responsibilities and critical tasks.
- Proven success in negotiation, communication and presentation skills across various audiences and levels inside and outside the organization.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with other internal teams and leverage efficiencies when possible.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and resourceful.

Preferred Quals:
- 4 year degree, MBA preferred.
- Payment/Customer focused industry preferred.
- Familiarity with the major credit card/debit card networks and card processing.
- Experience implementing project and enhancements in a Wells Fargo or similar environment.
- Proven track record of launching products in the financial services space.
- Understanding of the product development process from concept development to product launch.
