Product Manager - Apparel

Develops and executes product based upon vision and void directed by the Merchants to ensure the timely shipment of quality, trend right product. Develops strong working relationships with Agents, Buyers, Vendors and other inter-departmental associates. Serves as the primary contact with the Merchants in developing products while building credibility within these relationships. Has a strong strategic ability to execute programs utilizing cross department efficiencies leading to successful adoption rates. Communicates a compelling vision. Inspires, develops and coaches direct reports. Consistently travels domestically and overseas to understand fashion trends, color and global climate. Regularly shops all levels of stores including our own and competitors for fashion, trend, color direction and value.


Responsibilities

  • Develops strong working relationships with Agents. Ensures styling details are clearly communicated and understood by Agents/Vendors.
  • Ensures all production problems are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Initiates the development process according to time and action calendar.
  • Collaborates with Merchandising, Design and Sourcing. Reviews technical package for accuracy and necessary details.
  • Strong strategic ability to execute realistic programs utilizing cross department efficiencies leading to successful adoption rates.
  • Based on global climate conditions works with team to develop programs that are executable and production efficient.
  • Works directly with technical design to ensure that the product styling and fit is consistent with current market trends.
  • Works with the Agents to develop new techniques and concept samples.
  • Reviews all submits received from vendors for compliance to standards.
  • Directs vendors how to correct color, strike offs, and other components if necessary
  • Manages delivery and production flow, accounting for the Time & Action calendar and wall dates.
  • Monitors WIP reports with Product Development team, Agents and Vendors to ensure on time delivery for all programs
  • Provides appropriate direction and support to associates. Sets clear and challenging goals, measures progress against them and gives regular consistent feedback.
  • Flexes leadership style based on individual needs of associates.
  • Travels domestically and internationally to work with agents/vendors and to shop in order to understand fashion trends, color and global climate.
  • Regularly evaluates vendor performance giving feedback to the Sourcing group concerning Agent/Vendor issues and recommends solutions.
