Product Information Specialist

The PI Specialist gathers detailed information on all products, ensuring that the copy team can write comprehensive, accurate and compelling product copy for the Source Books, website and in-store marketing vehicles.


• Manage the process and flow of all product information in retail, catalog and web as it pertains to construction, quality, design, and selling features.
• Work with Merchant team and Product Development to compile product specifications for all products, creating best-in-class PI that is thorough, accurate and identifies the key quality selling points.


Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee PI process from start to finish, which includes working closely with merchants and product development to ensure that comprehensive information is captured on the product information sheets in order to meet all catalog/creative deadlines.
• Establish, adhere to and enforce PI timelines/deadlines.
• Check PI forms for accurate and consistent product information (dimensions, content, care, etc.), and review with VP, Copy to assign to a team of freelance writers.
• Utilize project management skills to track and maintain integrity of copy through multiple steps including development, editing and merchant approval.
• Deliver completed copy to Copy and Web teams (internal partners) by calendar deadlines.
• Train and develop Assistant Merchandise Managers on PI requirements
• Write line extension web copy for multiple product categories.
• Maintain and organize PI files by season and category for reference and access to all product information.
• Oversee any additional projects to enhance product knowledge and support brand image and business initiatives.
• Attend Product Development kickoff meetings for all business categories.
• Participate in the catalog proofreading process for all titles to verify accuracy of final product names or other information.
• Identify and implement process and system improvements in the flow of product information. Support cross-department and cross-functional information flow through new systems.
• Support PI Manager in building new processes and systems that can scale to meet the company’s expanding product assortment and new business initiatives.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with all internal partners. •

Skills Required
Job Related Competencies:
• Outstanding organizational skills; extremely detailed oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in copyediting and/or proofreading; ability to identify mistakes/errors in PI or final
copy
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in an extremely deadline-driven environment
• Ability to partner and work proactively with multiple departments; self-starter
• Works collaboratively as part of a team


Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Powerpoint), particularly Excel
• Prior specialty retail catalog experience and Product Information experience preferred


Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree
