Product Development Manager

Our client is a private label division of a major corporate retailer developing exclusive and proprietary cosmetic, skin care and beauty accessories for US and global distribution. The Product Development Manager will be responsible for assisting the team in development of quality, innovative and first-to-market products for the US Accessories division within the branded collection.

Position Responsibilities

• Oversee development projects assigned by manager and create new ideas not shown by suppliers.
• Oversee internal and external communications regarding products in development including timelines, cost negotiations, MOQ, product copy, secondary packaging, product sourcing and product design.
• Evaluate submissions and review with manager for unified supplier feedback.
• Partner with marketing on product information sheets, product names, shade names and timeline.
• Partner with our dotcom photography studio on product shots for secondary packaging.
• Request, follow up and distribute samples to internal and external teams.
• Oversee development timelines; launch on a timely manner.
• Help to meet gross margins goals.
• Oversee artwork routing on a timely manner.
• Create seasonal assortment presentations.
• Stay abreast of the competitive market; purchase and present compelling competitive and relevant products.
• Develop relationships with existing and new suppliers, internal cross functional teams and brand founders.
• Research and suggest possible new suppliers.
• Attend trade shows

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Must have a college degree with at least 5 years work experience in product development.
• Passion for the category.
• Great capacity to develop many different products, from vision to detail.
• Be flexible and agile with constant changes and time restraints.
• Outstanding communication skills and acts proactively.
• Organized, reliable multi-tasker.
• Be a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Be flexible and open to internal and external feedback on products being developed.
• Microsoft Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Some travel may be required.
