Product Developer/Technical Designer

The primary responsibilities of the Product Developer are to contribute to the development, engineering, and specifications processes of innovative and technologically advanced products that meet the needs of the Company’s customers and end users which assists in Company sales and profits. Assists with the engineering the highest level of innovative and quality products, executing to the product development timeline in conjunction with the timelines of the Company’s business strategies. Works to develop products which meet or exceed predetermined gross margin targets, and communicating the specifications and product details to the Sourcing organization and Suppliers. Works under close direction and handles increasingly complex issues while developing a track record of success in the development processes.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 3-5.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Development in a medium or large size company, preferably in the activewear category.

Skills:
Strong knowledge of the product category assigned.
Excellent pattern making skills.
Successful project management skills and knowledge of the product cycle and
product development timelines.
Strong knowledge of materials used to build lucy products.
Strong knowledge of the engineering and manufacturing processes used to build
lucy products.
Strong analytical, problem solver and negotiation skills
Strong Knowledge of specifications management, product costing, and
size/fit/grading (as applicable).
Good CAD drawing skills for technical and construction detail sketches &
related art.
Aptitude for systems and systematic work.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Strong interactive skills.
Strong PC skills (word processing, spreadsheets).
Must have a track record in assisting in the development of innovative designs,
procedures, implementing processes and getting things done on time
Key Responsibilities

1. Management of the development process to develop products from initial concept through production of assigned product categories.
2. Lead fit session, organize, track and process fit comments from 1st proto through TOP on assigned product categories. Adhere to development calendar dates to ensure timely completion of fit comments to sourcing offices.
3. Partners with Material Sourcing and design by maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOMs). Update and forward all revised records / information to manufacturing vendors.
4. Assist manager to develop strategic ideas, systems and guidelines with Development Team to implement department procedures, and as a daily user of informational systems, i.e. tracking spreadsheets, how to measure manuals, construction standards and etc.
5. Maintains all records, style files, and samples associated with the product category and related programs.

6. Collaborate with cross functional business partners and manufacturers to develop new fabrications and processes that go hand in hand with developing innovative and technically superior products that meet or exceed predetermined gross margin targets. Ensures the technical superiority and the product quality/integrity of all products under their responsibilities.
7. Interacts with Product Development Director, Product Managers, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Quality Assurance to distribute product technical details and assure the accuracy, legality, and integrity of all product performance claims..
