The User Experience organization is a multi-disciplinary service organization that designs user interactions and experiences with devices, systems and services that provide an overall positive, engaging and productive experience. The organization is comprised of Product Designers, UX Architects, Content Writers, UX Researchers, Creative Technologists and Visual Designers that come together to create delightful experiences.

User Experience (UX) Design is responsible for applying knowledge of user-centered design methods, human-computer interaction, and industry best practices to drive useful and usable interface design solutions.

Job Summary

The Product Designer for our Fortune 500 Insurance company has proficiency in more than one UX discipline: User Research, Interaction Design/Information Architecture, Visual Design, or Front-end development. The Product Designer is responsible for defining and delivering an experience that is usable, useful, and enjoyable. This person will work in an Agile XP environment in collaboration with product managers, developers, users, and stakeholders to define, design, and ship products and/or services. The Agile XP approach ensures that the pace of delivery is fast yet sustainable. Our commitment to quick feedback loops keeps us lean and focused on outcome over deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Ability to design & envision experiences iteratively in a lean environment

Works in pairs effectively with other product designers and/or other project team members that have complimentary skills

Shepard

Create rapid iterations of design prototypes that can be tested and validated with users

Conduct appropriate user research and analysis methods to answer the research questions at hand

Leverage data and user feedback to drive design decisions instead of opinion

Help product managers assess and prioritize opportunities, constraints and features

Ability to immerse themselves in the details of a project, working on one engagement at a time

Comfortable making daily product decisions with the product manager and developers

At times, create semantic and standards compliant front-end code

Has an entrepreneurial spirit and isn’t afraid to stand up for what they believe is the right product

Is open to feedback and engages in active listening

Motivated to continuously learn new skills and capabilities that they do not currently possess

Job Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

Has proficiency is more than one UX discipline: User Research, Interaction Design/Information Architecture, Visual Design, or Front-end development.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, human factors and or HCI preferred.
5+ years as a UX designer in highly collaborative environments
The ability to quickly produce clickable prototypes is required
Experience using Lean UX methodology is strongly desired
Experience creating HTML, CSS, JavaScript, LESS, SASS, and/or Angular code is desired
Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Axure RP
Knowledge of tools like Invision App, Sketch, or IntelliJ are a plus
