Print Traffic Supervisor - Team Manager

Supervisor, Marketing Traffic Department
This is a temp - perm role.
This role requires previous team management/direct report experience.

OBJECTIVE:
To provide consistent direction and motivation to Traffic Department to successfully oversee the flow of work for all products and accounts from concept development to product completion.

Supervises Sr. Traffic Manager(s), Traffic Manager(s), Traffic Coordinator(s), Summer Intern(s)

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must possess a thorough understanding of creative traffic procedures and best practices for projects across channels, including print, digital, etc.

5-6 years professional traffic experience, preferably in an enterprise environment.
If no degree is possessed, then 10 years traffic experience in agency setting is required.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines.

Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments at one time.

Ability to manage challenging situations both internally and with business partners.

Provide effective direction to marketing and creative groups in the trafficking of work.

Be able to recommend effective solutions to resolve any crisis situation.
Ability to think in terms of business management including demonstrating cost effective ways to increase productivity, manage expenses, etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a supportive environment for traffic group to work most productively.
Train and supervise direct reports in all aspects of traffic system.

Assist in the education and development of traffic staff.

Develop internal operating procedures to create efficiencies.

Provide daily, full-traffic management of assigned products and accounts.

Provide accurate record keeping; maintain job jackets.

Consult on timelines and production schedules, using input from Marketing Consultants, Creative, and Production.

Maintain an accurate record of work in progress during all stages of jobs.

Review and approve job status reports each week for agency distribution.

Hold weekly (or as needed) traffic meetings to update product teams on the status of jobs and to alert them of obstacles that may impede deadlines.

Provide support in developing a computerized system for accounting and traffic.

Develop and implement new systems and procedures to serve the creative and production team's needs

Secure all internal and external approvals.

Conduct, attend and/or monitor performance reviews of Traffic Department to encourage, motivate and improve staff performance, and to ensure consistency and uniformity in its application in accordance with standards.

Identify and recommend external training opportunities for Traffic staff.

Direct the educational activities involved in order to serve as a training center for entry-level employees.

Conduct new employee orientation on agency traffic procedures.

Direct client contact, if required, to discuss scheduling concerns and/or creative/production workflow process.

Participate as a member of the Operations Committee.


QUALIFICATIONS:
An associate (2 year) degree or bachelor (4 year) degree (preferred).
5-6 years professional traffic experience, preferably in an enterprise environment.
If no degree is possessed, then 10 years traffic experience in agency setting is required.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
Strong computer skills, with specific knowledge of a widely utilized word processing application.
