Print Production Specialist

The Print Production Specialist is responsible for the internal and external scheduling of work throughout the Print Production Department. The associate manages jobs entering the Print Production Department and assigns a step-by-step schedule of completion to jobs as entered. Under the direction of the Director Print Production and with input from the print manager, this role coordinates movement of all jobs through the Print Production Department and vendors, (functions coordination, media, creative, production). The Print Production Specialist will also manage the Medicaid line of business, working closely with the Minority Vendor responsible for Medicaid production.


This position reports to Director, Print Production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Opens all Print Production Department jobs.

Reviews daily work schedule with Director, Print Production.

Writes up Job Change Orders from Print Coordinator/clients in all regions

Expedites all “crisis jobs.” Majority of work should flow through creative/production on a reasonable, scheduled basis, as directed and supervised by the Production Director.

Notifies Director, Print Production when necessary and contacts clients for any materials, information, etc., required to complete scheduled projects.

Contacts clients directly as requested by Print Production Director.

Regularly informs Director, Print Production about the current status of all jobs in progress in production, based on input from production manager and creative director.

Reports any problems affecting job quality, due dates and costs to Director, Print Production, and client.

Works with Director, Print Production and Print manager in selecting vendors for all jobs, based on quality control, budget, timing, etc. Assists in job estimating, vendor specifications, etc.

Oversees quality control in conjunction with Print Production Director.

Deals with vendors and print manger on deliveries, scheduling, etc.

Provides internally approved copy, layouts, etc. to business Owner for approval. Retrieves client-approved materials to continue production process.

Assists print manager in coordinating schedules of collateral materials to arrive before final deadlines.

Maintains online folders of all approved materials for the company.

Arranges delivery of samples to client and Print Department personnel for all completed jobs.

Works with Media/Advertising Manager to obtain publications’ specifications and extensions when necessary.

Maintains current computer skills related to daily job functions.
