Print Production Manager

SF Based company looking for a Print Production Manager. This person will be a key member of the Client Operations team that manages a large procurement engagement, reporting to the Senior Marketing Procurement Manager also in San Francisco.

This is a 40 hour a week role, onsite in SF that could go permanent for the right person!

Responsibilities include:

• Manage the entire procurement lifecycle from planning & bid preparation to budget/forecasting, negotiation, invoicing and reporting for a major U.S. retail brand
• Gather and develop detailed specifications to formulate accurate RFQs
• Formulate eRFQ's based on project requirements; negotiating prices, schedules, turnaround times and other terms with vendors
• Organize and distribute specifications and other critical project information to internal and external stakeholders
• Execute timely and accurate transactions against defined strategies through our eProcurement system, securing required approvals from the client
• Continually track and provide status updates on project deliverables and progress
• Accurate and timely submission of vendor invoices with sufficient variance explanation as necessary
• Identify and problem-solve project risks/issues, escalating when necessary to resolve issues affecting our ability to deliver on client expectations
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance related to price, quality and service
• Leverage offsite team of strategic sourcing experts to drive additional savings opportunities
• Develop internal client relationships; facilitate communication between client business units, internal stakeholders and suppliers
• Provide first-rate customer service to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Participate in developing and continually refining processes and systems
• Ensure procurement activities comply with all client policies and procedures including legal and regulatory
• Deliver detailed procurement reporting and cost savings tracking

Ideal Candidate possesses the following:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of experience sourcing print and related services across multiple categories
• Proven technical knowledge across some or all of the following physical marketing categories:
- Marketing collateral: high-volume retail inserts
- Expertise with DIRECT MAIL is required!
- Signage: weekly/monthly POP programs, complex kit pack-outs, small and large format graphics and other OOH
- Warehousing and fulfillment, distribution and logistics
• Familiarity with some or all of the following:
- Graphic Design, pre-press and print production technology and processes
- Current press technology for offset (web and sheet-fed), digital (small and large format) and screen printing
- Press layouts and configurations
- Die cutting and digital cutting systems, paper and substrates
- Binding and finishing techniques
- Print on Demand
• Knowledge of vendor communities that serve the above categories
• Demonstrated success in managing vendors, negotiating and managing high-value contracts
• Experience with e-sourcing software (Oracle, SAP Ariba or other cloud-bases systems) is a plus
• Keen ability to deliver on client expectations, influencing others or escalating as needed to do so
• Customer-focused attitude with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; excellent client interfacing skills
• Ability to operate independently as well as interact with vendors, and internal or client stakeholders at all organizational levels
• Ability to understand and manage complicated operational detail and communicate this clearly based on audience (client and/or internal partners)
• Analytically adept with the ability to interpret complex data for informed decision-making and to assess results
• Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel/financial analysis and planning
• Strong organizational, communication and project management skills
