Print Producer

The Print Producer partners with Creatives and the Studio to bring ideas and executions to fruition by procuring high quality, cost effective print and production services for all agency print media projects.

Major Responsibilities/Primary Functions

  • Partners with Creative Department, Studio Manager, Designers, and Account Service to gain complete knowledge of parameters and needs of a project; obtains full understanding of Creative’s concepts, execution, direction and team to determine optimal development and solutions for projects
  • Provides a POV, added value and creative solutions based on personal expertise in the field, brand knowledge, agency expectations and industry evolution
  • Contracts appropriate vendors determined by needs/scope of project, timing, and budget; conveys all production/printer requirements and limitations in a timely manner so appropriate medium and design decisions can be determined and job can be estimated
  • Responsible for building relationships with and have knowledge of outside vendors to ensure a competitive creative and bidding market to meet company and client’s needs
  • Communicates with Media and Account Service to obtain full details of media plan, locations (and their requirements), quantities and other media details to determine appropriate print and installation resources
  • Develops and maintains estimates for all production related materials and event services provided by outside vendors to be incorporated in the overall production estimate by the Print Production Manager
  • Provides vendors with print specifications and requirements (delivery dates, file requirements, paper/substrate, print format and bindery) to Studio to ensure that appropriate files and proofs are created for final production
  • Identifies and sources appropriate talent for creative needs of project within budget, including photographers, illustrators, etc.
  • Demonstrates comfort with face time with clients
  • Guarantees print quality by attending press checks and installations
  • Researches industry trends and seeks out new technologies and vendors in order to recommend print media and production solutions; proposes innovative ideas/solutions to reinforce or compliment client’s brand message
  • Flexible with the demands of the job and with the changing nature of the agency & industry
  • Demonstrates thinking beyond the obvious
  • Viewed as a creative resource that adds value to a project or campaign


  • Qualifications, Distinguishing Characteristics and Special Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Experience with procurement and/or production in agency or design environment
  • Understanding of all print mediums: offset, screen, digital, web for collateral, and traditional and non-traditional OOH
  • Working knowledge of Excel, MS Word, Entourage and PDF applications
  • Basic understanding of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Industry knowledge of terminology and language to accurately convey changes of direction in concept, design, development and production
  • Ability to evaluate and approve final color, communicate appropriate correction, manipulation and composition to vendors
  • Ability to use experience, resources, and interact with other departments within the agency to solve problems
  • A proven track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills, while maintaining composure in stressful situations
  • Exceptional attention to detail, multi-tasking, initiative and follow through skills
  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
  • Domestic/International travel and after hours work required
