Print Graphic Designer - Outdoor Apparel
Must have strong PRINT graphic design experience with luxury outdoor brands!

Our major apparel retail client from a Design perspective operates under the culture of a “Startup”. They are part of a larger brand but they have their own brand identity and a much smaller team so everyone there wears a lot of hats and is always flexible to do the next task, to get what needs done, regardless of whether is it is in their job description.
This Temp Graphic Designer role will be no different. If anything it will be even more so because the team is so overloaded with work and the backlog for the retail stores is so high that this person will need to hit the ground running and then some. The team does not have the bandwidth for a lot of additional support and guidance that is why it is so important that we find someone who speaks to the identity of the MHWbrand and has the same style and artistry that they need.
The parent company is a brand for the masses selling to retailers like Kohl’s and selling to Middle America consumers; mainstream. Their identity is not marketed as an upscale identity. This client considers itself to be a premium specialty brand – climate and extreme focused to a younger, edgier demographic with more technical and thus more expensive products. They need a Designer who can speak to a specialty market using premium aesthetics – not someone who is used to doing run of the mill ads for Kohl’s. If they’ve done Design for hospitality, we want to see work for The W Hotel, not the Hampton Inn.
Who they are looking for:
In an artist, they want really clean topography, restrained use of color, structured grid, edgy photography, something grittier and unexpected – Not postcard or catalogs.
The top 3 things that the hiring manager is looking for in candidates are:
- Previous consumer apparel brand experience
- Previous experience with environmental graphics and specifically in store print design
- Edgy, high end, technical design style and portfolio.
In a perfect world they would have all 3 components but 2 out of 3 is almost a requirement at this point.
Team Dynamic & Culture:
This is a VERY small team – less than 5 Designers and all working on overload at this point. They need someone strong who can jump in and make an impact quickly without needing a ton of direction and hand holding. They need to be a strong communicator – not necessarily chatty, but who communicates and executes when necessary.
Again this is a small team so personality is important too. They need to be flexible, easy going and willing to work beyond the job description. Be a team player at all times and do whatever needs done to get the job done. This is definitely not a team where everyone has their 1 job and stays in their row only. The “Start Up” mentality is perfect!
