Main Duties/ Responsibilities
You must be an experienced communications professional, with 1-2 years experience that ideally would include working in government communications. You hold minimum CTC, ideally SC security clearance. In addition you should: • Have excellent written and oral communication skills • Be able to work under pressure for sustained periods – while also maintaining sound judgement. • Give clear and trusted advice to Ministers and officials • Have awareness of Ministerial priorities, departmental business objectives and the broader political/Governmental context. • Be confident and authoritative when speaking to the media on behalf of the Department • Have good relationship management skills and be able to maintain key links with relevant policy and delivery people across BIS • Be able to work with other government organisations and No.10 to co-ordinate presentation and policy. • Be aware of the rapidly changing nature of communications – and how to put that to good use.
