Are you passionate about researching, editing, and delivering compelling photographs? Do you like working in a fast-paced environment? Do you have a passion for news, sports and popular culture?

We are looking for a smart, hard-working Photo Editor to produce images that will be published in apps and online. The Photo Editor will work with an Editorial team in a virtual newsroom-style environment. Topics include breaking-news, trending topics, sports, entertainment and popular culture. Meeting deadlines while managing speed, accuracy and quality are essential for the role. The Photo Editor must be savvy in Photoshop, file management and workflow processes.

Responsibilities
• Select editorial, press-release and stock photography from a variety of approved image sources
• Choose smart, compelling visual solutions that effectively and appropriately tell the story
• Adhere to journalistic integrity—timeliness, accuracy, objectivity, narrative
• Extract the best visual solution from potentially complex editorial content
• Adhere to set price-points to produce the highest quality content within budget
• Successfully complete required production for images, including:
o Resizing and cropping images
o Balancing color, levels, curves, sharpness, etc.
o Optimizing photos for the Web according to specifications
• Create accurate and succinct photo captions, as needed
• Articulate image choices verbally and in writing, as needed
• Collaborate with the Editorial team for clarification of intent, as needed
• License images regularly using internal tools

Qualifications
• Proven ability to employ effective and creative problem-solving skills
• Team player
• Available to work early morning shifts or afternoon shifts and/or weekend shifts
• Expert in Photoshop
• Knowledgeable and experienced in news, sports and popular culture
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Must take constructive criticism well
• Advanced PC skills, including Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Minimum 2 years photo-editing experience; emphasis in photojournalism is preferred
• A BA/BS degree or equivalent is preferred
• A portfolio showing samples of work (link to portfolio or work samples is preferred)
