Packaging/Graphic Designer (Beauty exp.)

Our client is in need of a Packaging/Graphic Designer who can assist on the designs for this year's holiday beauty kits. This will be a short term project (2-4 weeks), with the potential to go long term (or ongoing freelance basis) and must work onsite in Oxnard (there is no flexibility for remote work). You will be working in tandem with one other designer. Office is an open concept with music, meetings, and lots of teamwork.

This position will have the ability to help build their successful new Cosmetic Brand. The perfect candidate is an individual with strong design software skills and a highly creative thinker. This team member must have the ability to understand fashion trends and how to design to best represent the brand.

Responsibilities:
• To create compelling artwork and graphic designs for both web and print.
• Understanding of the company brand as well as the customer and applicable trends
• To create visually unique, and artistic marketing messages for the company
• Must possess strong design skills (typography, color theory, and composition) and contemporary aesthetic
• Excellent attention to detail: Review and proofread designs for errors before printing/publishing to produce accurate and high-quality work
Web
• Develop web friendly graphics for product promotions, page banners, banner ads, social media, & web publications
• Layout and design of promotional emails

Photography
• Product photography and photo-retouching with ability save images in the appropriate format for destination
• Produce images that identify a product or convey a message

Print & Packaging Artwork
• Create primary and secondary packaging artwork as they apply to the overall brand vision
• Create consistently tight files including detailed legends for packaging graphics, leaflets, labels, and other print collateral
• Understanding of printing techniques and ability to problem solve around print limitations
• Conceptual development, renderings, comps for new packaging development
• Layout and design for product catalogs and other print collateral

Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign
Knowledge of offset printing & finishes
Proficient in photo-retouching & product photography
Knowledge of HTML & CSS a plus
