We need a Packaging Materials Designer for a year long contract with a major pharmaceutical company!

Graphic Designer
Under the general guidance of the Associate Director Graphic Services, the incumbent is accountable for the creation of production quality artwork for printed packaging materials for all component types, sites and markets supported by Global Packaging Technology while complying with SOPs and pharmaceutical industry standards and requirements.

• Perform assigned tasks with accuracy and attention to detail to ensure all customer requirements are met, no unexpected changes are introduced and due dates or standard lead times are met. These tasks include:
o Create artwork for printed packaging materials using text, graphics and structures provided for this purpose.
o Revise existing artwork per requests from Regulatory, Commercial or Packaging Engineering.
o Review one’s own work and artwork created by peers per established procedures.
o Transmit artwork approved for printing to designated print vendors.
o Evaluate acceptability of vendor proofs to ensure consistency with approved artwork and advise vendors of need for changes or approval to print.
o Establish color standards for items with complex graphics and for other items as required.
o Record activities in artwork management system.
o Complete training assigned by due dates to ensure ongoing compliance with new or revised client and global regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrate decisiveness and good judgment to accomplish prompt resolution of issues which require packaging engineering, regulatory affairs or print vendor intervention.

• Engage in partnership with Graphic Design team members to provide coverage during absences and to balance workload.

• Initiate actions to support personal development in addition to identifying or supporting process and productivity improvements within the department.

• Assess impact of new regulatory requirements, evaluate equipment and software needs and support validation activities.

• Support the development of final, approved artwork through interaction with product development, site transfer and product launch teams.
Education:

Associates Degree or equivalent experience required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience / Knowledge Desired:
• 2-4 years experience in Graphic Design
• Must have demonstrated proficiency in the software used to create and revise artwork on a Macintosh platform, specifically Adobe Creative Suite, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office programs on PC.
• Must have the ability to apply knowledge of various printing and packaging equipment and processes in performing this activity.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory labeling requirements and experience in creating artwork to support packaging of pharmaceutical products is preferred.
• Project management experience and participation on project teams is also highly desirable.
• Successful candidates will have strong attention to detail, the ability to successfully manage a multitude of technical projects, excellent organizational skills, demonstrated ability to collaborate in a matrixed environment, a high degree of integrity including open and honest communication, and a focus on continuous improvement.
