Packaging Designer

Industrial Packaging Designer will be responsible for improving the structural,graphics retail design.
Experience with "SolidWorks" (CAD 3-D software).

• Improve existing packaging designs and develop new, market-transforming packaging.
• Work with a variety of different materials including rigid substrates, paper, flexibles, and other solutions
• Translate direction from management into actionable communications, strategies, and/or solutions
• Contribute to the creative and technical activities of Design with a focus on developing consumer-centric design solutions.
• Collaborate with a worldwide network of designers, commercial leaders, manufacturing and technical experts in the activity of ideation, design, design development and the production of visual and physical design communication materials and samples
• Work effectively with Company's Intellectual Property team to build, maintain, defend and leverage intellectual property portfolio to protect value for the company
• Participate as a team member, and sometimes lead small cross-functional teams, on packaging development projects from initial concepts through final production.
• Follow projects through the manufacturing process coordinating with suppliers, reviewing and refining tooled parts.
• Refine designs for manufacturing without losing the original design intent.
• Work directly with Business leads and customers, identifying their needs and proposing a way to meet those needs.
• Manage projects; identifying necessary resources, building and maintaining a timeline, executing the design process, and presenting to the customer.
• Build relationships, trust, and confidence with key customers.
• Act as a strong voice for design in an effort to be a good steward for MWV as a whole.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
• A working knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.
• Ability to design solutions targeted towards specific consumer demographics and/or brands.
• Basic understanding of ergonomics and human factors as they relate to product design
• Strong creative skills and mastery of basic design activity skills such as problem solving, sketching, making of models and mock ups, technical drawing, and development of visual communication materials
• Ability to present ideas and related work to small to medium groups of people
• Skills in relevant software applications Artios Cad, SolidWorks, Photoshop and or Adobe Illustrator
• Passion for Design and Problem Solving
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Basic Knowledge of Intellectual Property and related processes to protect new ideas and concepts
