Proficient Packaging Graphic Production Artist needed in a technical and creative position within the Beauty and Cosmetics Industry. The production artist edits and creates the layout of cosmetic package materials as guided by the Manager of Print Production Global Creative Services. (This is not a Design position).

The Production artist will work closely with the Production Manager and assist with digital “paste-up” for designers and art directors to produce final files for reproduction ensuring the accuracy of design. Heavy focus on packaging, but may provide assistance in other creative departments. Completed certificate program or degree related to the field of graphic design is preferred. Pre-press knowledge with an understanding of print ready files is needed.

The Production Artist will use their expertise in graphic design and with current computer applications to create layouts and work with approved final designs. You will make improvements and modify files to increase the quality of production and ensure that industry and department standards are met. Artists are responsible for archiving and updating graphic files following department procedures.

Desired Qualifications:
· 5 years or more of professional experience as a production artist who also has graphic design experience
· Varied packaging production experience highly desired
· OS X Platform
· Expert knowledge of Adobe CC Suite, Excel and Word with advanced skills in technology and art design software
· Must maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy when preparing artwork and pdf file versions, internal proofing and final art release.
· Ability to perform well under tight schedules and under pressure
· Advanced skills to manage typography and composition within a die line
· Strong knowledge of all file formats and the proper way to convert files for digital, print and presentations
· Proven experience to translate complex designs into clear and concise visual elements for line extension mechanicals
· Fast, yet accurate.
· Demonstrate strong detail orientation, process orientation, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
· Ability to effectively manage an unpredictable workload and meet established deadlines
· Knowledge of latest and traditional print technologies
· Competence in all aspects of production design
· Demonstrate the ability to be flexible within deadline driven due dates
· Demonstrate the ability to work within established brand guidelines

Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare, organize and set-up print ready artwork and package files to send to outside printers and vendors
· Develop print collateral -- packaging, catalogs and signage
· Be proactive and troubleshoot print-related issues
· Reformat artwork based on vendors technical die lines
· Reformat artwork based on design updates
· Communicate all missing items to Production Manger while handling multiple jobs at one time.
· Document status and revisions
· Responsible for corrections and editing while working within guidelines
· Artwork Proofing based on established guidelines and template
· Printed Sample Proofing based on established guidelines and template
· Successfully juggle multiple projects and project deadlines
· Abide by established departmental processes and procedures
· Flexibility in schedule to accommodate hard deadlines
· Advance knowledge of layout, type, color, tracking, kerning and leading.
Understanding of color theory and working with color codes
· Flexibility in schedule to accommodate hard deadlines
· Work Environment
· Working hours will be spent in an office setting, on site
· Standard 40-hour workweek applies, but overtime and nontraditional hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
