Position Title: Package Engineer

***Our Fortune 500 retail client is looking for a Package Engineer for a year long contract to be on their beauty & home team***


Support of lower complexity, stock/core product categories
Support and learn package development process under the tutelage of manager or Sr. package Engineer, including, but not limited to:
Technical drawing – fit/function evaluation, tooling, testing procedures, materials, production processes, etc.
Supplier relations, by supporting investigative study of packaging option for active projects
Responsibilities, under the direction of manager/Director:
1. Develop and route BOM in PLM for all new products in support of manager or Director
2. Manage the cost sheet process from a packaging perspective, in PLM
3. Coordinate development of Specifications in PLM with suppliers to ensure functionality, aesthetics and transportation
4. Develop filling specifications in PLM with contract fillers, consistent with manufacturing capabilities and requirements
5. Maintenance of SAP – input NASF data and track/complete C-Projects milestones
6. Coordinate/Execute Package Test Plan – create with Packaging Test Lab & Manger
7. Evaluate and distribute production standards for all new components to suppliers, fillers and QA
8. Support/learn tool qualifications and/or component and filling start-ups as necessary
9. Partnership with Com. Services for coordination of timeline and project execution with external clients
Support ideation and implementation of Cost Savings and innovation initiatives
Manage E2E development with Manager/Director of flavor extensions to existing lines
Work closely with Strategic sourcing on putting together bid package for all new components. Ensure that all in process have the proper capabilities in order to produce job to Merchant expectations


Package Development/Execution
• Under the supervision of Packaging Manager, handles packaging development for smaller / less complex programs
• Reviews and interprets DTO’s
• Formulates specifications
• Creates generic packages (no custom tooling)
• Attends press runs and line trials
• Identifies stock components, which is to be approved by manager

Execution of the following for own product categories; supporting Manager/Director strategic initiatives:
• Set up article tool BOM’s
• Code Creation
• Test orders/package Evaluation Requests (PERs)
• Specifications for fill and assembly
• SOP Standards
• Component Sample Requests

Commercialization/ Project Management
• Vendor Management
• Troubleshoots when there is a delay
• Partners with CSG to ensure timelines are met

Specialty Projects
• Strong relationships within Package development team
• Direct engagement with vendors and Brand Merchants & Design
• Builds internal relationship with all cross functional partners; including CSG, Operations Planning, and Technical Services
• Communications are on tactical issues and mechanical releases

Talent Management
• Creation and execution of IDP/PPO/Mid-year/Performance review/OLR profile/Career Management Profile for self
• Complete on-boarding activities
• Assist in on-boarding new associates (MGBH Buddy – Optional)
• Train cross functional partners when possible Participate and support AOS initiatives
• Identify continuous learning opportunities for self (i.e. Learning manager, attend other meetings to gain insights, job shadowing)

• 2-5 years of related experience
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks

BS Engineering, preferably in Package Development, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
