Exciting opportunity for a part-time PR Specialist with diversity and inclusion experience.

Must have solid experience in consumer PR, ability to execute multi-channel integrated PR campaigns (in partnership with marketing), exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills, expertise in relationship-building, solid understanding of and experience working with traditional and social media (including creative content development), possess strong executive presence, and have good project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.

Responsibilities:
- Help plan and execute integrated PR campaigns for the Diversity & Inclusion team;
-Effectively translate the brand/client needs into actionable, cross-platform PR campaigns from ideation through launch;
-Work effectively in cross-functional teams to advance external communications strategy; ensure communication strategy is consistent and reflects the brand’s strategic vision
-Develop and drive social media and content campaigns supporting PR and marketing campaigns
-Strengthen and leverage Capital One’s relationship with top-tier media as well as key industry bloggers and other thought leaders;
-Support interviews and other interactions with external media, providing counsel, messaging support and media training, as needed;
-Write and edit communications materials, including press releases, media alerts, award submissions, thought leadership, social media content and other communications documents;
-Coordinate media outreach, leveraging key contacts and managing relationships to prioritize and qualify media opportunities in national and regional dailies, broadcast media, online/social media outlets as well as key bloggers and other influencers;
-Develop and coordinate pitches and seek to place positive stories in business, trade and consumer media as aspect of communications strategy;
-Drive campaign strategy and execution, including in-market customer activations, industry conferences, speaking engagements and other event opportunities for participation; and manage executive training and briefing needs;
-Develop briefs for and help manage agency implementation of activities where required; serve as PR liaison with professional and vendor partners.

Basic Qualifications:
-At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or Marketing/Public Relations OR military experience
-At least 5 years of media relations/external communications experience in consumer Public Relations (PR)
-At least 3 years of experience executing multi-channel (PR/marketing/social) integrated campaigns in an external communications role

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record for developing and implementing successful strategies and providing external communications counsel to business leaders.
-Experience in executing multi-channel integrated PR campaigns tied to overall brand awareness and goal of driving new business
-Experience working for a leading brand within financial services or packaged/consumer goods industry
-Experience working with diversity and inclusion topics, or experience working for a firm focused on D&I issues;
-Assist with planning and execution of performance driven integrated PR campaigns;
-Coordinate media relations activities with media including press releases, media days, interviews and executive briefings;
-Develop and execute on the ground experiential marketing events;
-Strong written/verbal communications skills (writing sample required);
-Knowledgeable and ability to implement social media strategies;
-Ability to present complex subject matter in a clear, compelling manner;
-Strong understanding of the public relations industry, and related knowledge of key trade publications and local and national outlets;
-Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, and senior management;
-Creative, able to think outside the box, integrative problem-solving and structured thinking;
-Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail;
-Strong presentation skills and able to think on their feet;
-Must be a team player who is able to work in an open and collaborative environment and stay calm under intense pressure and manage rapidly changing priorities;
-Ability to manage pressure, meet deadlines and monitor and evaluate results;
-Prior experience working with agencies and large corporations;
-Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and media analysis tools.
