Mobile Phone PR • Based in either London or Reading • Salary – up to £55,000 per annum (+ bonus)

With products ranging from operating systems – including Mobile Phones - to video game and entertainment platforms, plus a broad range of offerings in high-growth areas such as Web-based services, unified communications, search and advertising, The UK PR team provides strategic communications advice to the business, building and protecting our client’s brand and reputation by influencing the external narrative about or client and its role in the UK. We work through many communications channels including traditional and digital media, industry influencers and analysts, social media, word of mouth and direct engagement with customers and partners as appropriate. We create and communicate narratives explaining the overarching story as well as the individual businesses, giving overall context and proving brand relevance to many different audiences. We demonstrate thought leadership to show our market leadership, innovation and future vision. We act as an internal catalyst, providing market insight and helping to shape our business strategy. And we strive to dispel myths, negative stories and competitor de-positioning. Most importantly for this role, we drive customer preference, demand and excitement for our products and services. Role Purpose • This PR manager role owns the management and execution of communications plans, strategies and tactics in support of our client’s mobile Phone business in the UK; • This role closely aligns and integrates with the overall communications vision and narratives for the UK, particularly it supports business stakeholders on a communications strategies and activities • This role will work closely with the rest of the UK PR team and its PR agencies, • Key audiences are consumers, partners (e.g. handset manufacturers, retailers and network operators) and app developers Key Accountabilities • Ensures consistent management and execution of communications programs to increase positive perceptions of our client’s mobiles phones in the UK; • Counsels and supports business stakeholders in building the right plans/tactical execution in support of positive perceptions for Mobile • Partners with in house resources, in the UK and the US, and PR agency to help create compelling PR stories for exploitation via traditional and social media, bloggers, celebrities and other influentials. • Partners with external PR agency, managing programs, campaigns and budget & resources; • Anticipates and helps to mitigate potential issues and crises; • Supports our client’s broader consumer offerings where necessary, for example cross product celebrity and influencer seeding programme and cross-business entertainment strategy work • Manages the news calendar for Mobile in relation to broader agenda, to help drive consistent and timely messages to the market Key Success Criteria • Ability to seek out social and traditional media opportunities to help amplify our products, campaign wins and brand • Gains respect and viewed as an excellent partner to the Windows Phone business group and the PR agency, managing the agency to a high standard and enabling their success • Develops an excellent relationship and engages with our key industry partners, such as hardware manufacturers and network operators • Takes a highly collaborative approach to PR and communications, including the ability to resolve conflict and ambiguity to craft our client’s story with external resonance. This will include partnership with colleagues in Marketing Communications teams. Knowledge, Skills and Experience • Essential Experience o The candidate must have extensive PR & Communications experience at a UK PR agency or in-house (or both), working on recognized consumer technology brand campaigns o Strong track record in managing PR campaigns and agency resources to deliver tangible results o Extensive knowledge and understanding of the UK traditional and social media landscape o Experienced in giving senior level counsel o Proven experience in managing multi-marketing discipline campaigns • Personal Attributes/Interpersonal Skills – the candidate should possess excellent collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to partner well with key stakeholders internally and externally; self-starter, yet happy working in a team • Technical/Functional Skills -- Solid writing skills, active social media follower/leader, competent on all Microsoft Office software. • Qualifications – Degree level qualification preferred • Experience of the smartphone market is preferred but not essential.
