Online Trading Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Online Trading Manager to join a high street retailer. Reporting directly into the Head of Online Trading you will be responsible for maximising the sales and profit of one division through all digital sales channels. You will have a commercial understanding of website sales data, site analytics and forecasting. You will support the Buying and Merchandising teams whilst understanding the competitive landscape.

• Responsible for ensuring the weekly and monthly packs are produced and include detailed analysis of on-site performance

• Management of 4 key areas: reporting, trading, planning and site management

• Identifying cross selling, up selling opportunities alongside the Merchandising teams

• Ensuring the trade calendar is up to date and planned in advance

• Ensuring all offers are maximized across the digital channels

• Using data to identify opportunities to drive sales and margin

• Ensuring product presentations is optimized

• Heavily focused on planning and forecasting, producing reports and analysing data to make recommendations

• Develop and execute a sales plan with the B&M team for digital, broken down into seasonal, quarterly and weekly figures

• Work closely with Buying and Merchandising teams to join up Trade plans

• Leading on site execution for trade plans

• Recommend and forecast promotional and trade activity to drive sales

• Reporting back on performance and the margin impact

• Ensuring the right levels of stock are given to the website

• Support range planning and extensions (including online exclusives)

• Using availability reporting to highlight any issues

• Ensuring the product photography process is operating efficiency

• Driving online performance using web analytics data

• Be seen as the expert for the channel throughout the business

• To influence key stakeholders through compelling insights and effective presentation of results

• Educating other areas on the importance and impact of understanding online customer behaviour

The Person:

• Background in core or online merchandising

• Some online trading experience would be an advantage

• A passion for online with a keen interest in customer buying behaviour, trends and the science behind shopping decisions

• Advanced data manipulation skills, able to deep dive into complex data sets to understand, define and monitor customer journeys

• Experience in overseeing the management of optimisation tests

• Comfortable with A/B & multi-variant testing

• Comfortable working to sales targets and E-Commerce measurement systems

• Prior experience of running cross-function initiatives and projects (e.g. click and collect / in-store digital ordering etc.)

• Confident in presenting results, insights and recommendations to Senior Stake Holders

• Able to build strong and collaborative relationships with Merchandising, Buying and Programme teams
