Motion Designer

Our creative team is growing and we are looking for a Sr. Visual Designer to help us create new engaging experiences for the customer of tomorrow. The creative team is tightly embedded within a multi-discipline product team of program managers, developers and quality assurance engineers. We are a highly collaborative group of product designers, visual / UX designers and motion designers; we are a curious group who value creativity, open idea sharing, and having fun while we work. Most of all, we’re motivated by our millions of users. We want them to love our products and we are looking for help defining what that means.

This role is to join our creative team specifically built to define the next generation of experiences. You should have a fresh, current, design aesthetic with an impeccable eye for graphic design, typography, color and motion expressed through a confident mixing of 2D, 2.5D and 3D approaches. We need a designer who leads by doing – someone who wants to do great design, help us tell our stories, and inspire our entire org. You need be great at zooming from big picture thinking to detailed design and love doing both.

You will be responsible for helping articulate and deliver new delightful visual experiences across multiple form factors and thus must be able to communicate your ideas using a wide variety of methods-from sketches to fully rendered motion pieces.

Job Responsibilities:
• Solve complex visual problems and turn them into innovative, beautifully clear designed visuals.
• Work closely with the Creative Director and creative design team to define and drive the visual language and style for the overall products and user experiences.
• Create fresh, performant, and compelling graphic elements and animations balancing strong aesthetics with clear functionality.
• Create motion graphics and visual elements in a variety of styles and forms, mixing 2D, 2.5D and 3D techniques.
• Use motion design to bring informational graphics, data and narrative concepts to life with clarity, impact and fun.
• Actively contribute to and help drive the visual communication and brand identity needs of both the product/experience and the team, including logos, posters, presentations, etc.
• Provide creative and innovative solutions to complex visual and interaction problems that are easy to comprehend and implement.
• Visual development: create sketches, storyboards, wireframes, pre-viz, walk-throughs and paper prototypes to communicate your design to the AD and the rest of the team.
• Iterate in low fidelity to arrive at the best possible design then execute at increasingly high fidelity to create and deliver shipping quality visuals and content.
• Always approach a challenge from multiple angles, and deliver a variety of solutions.
• Actively participate in creative discussions and reviews, as part of effective communication with team members across disciplines.
• Contribute in all phases of product development including hands-on crafting of experiences, designing and creating assets and visual elements.
• Seek out and advocate best practices across the studio for creating premium high quality visuals and user experience design for the product

Requirements:
• 7+ years of experience in entertainment media and design with an emphasis on graphic design, motion-graphics, and some user interface visualization.
• 4+ years of experience and proven commercial proficiency in mainstream, high-end 2D/3D package (Cinema4D/Maya/Modo /3DS Max) and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.
• Excellent 2D, 2.5D and 3D motion-graphics animation skills.
• Strong editorial sense and command of timing, motion and visual narrative.
• Expertise creating a variety of visual design documents including mood boards, storyboards, creative briefs, motion studies, and visual style guidelines.
• Meticulous sense of detail and ability to seek out simple solutions to complex design challenges.
• Excellent professional communication, collaboration, time-management and organizational skills.
• BA/BS in Graphic Design, Illustration, UI/UX, Digital Media Design & Production, or related field/discipline

Additional Qualifications:
• Video editing and VFX/compositing experience (After Effects, Premiere, FinalCut) are a plus
• AE/Expressions, Flash/ActionScript or other scripting skills are a plus
• Experience with real-time engines like Unity and Unreal is a plus
• Experience designing/creating UI/UX for mobile and tablets is a plus
• All candidates must deliver a current resume with a portfolio including motion reel to be considered for this position.
• Portfolio/reel review and presentation is required.
