Midweight Integrated Designer

The Creative Services Team is an integral part of the marketing and business development activity for our client and provides creative design solutions to support the business.

The Midweight Designer will be responsible for taking briefs from clients as well as the Creative Services Manager – they will be expected to produce a creative solution in-line with the client’s brand and where appropriate they should be able to understand and question this brief and ensure timely delivery of visuals and artwork back to client.

They will be expected to capture all time/business information spent on projects and ensure the workflow sheets are filled out correctly on a weekly basis in order that management information can be captured for month end reporting.

They will work closely with the onsite production manager to ensure all artwork is the correct specification and print deadlines are met.

The client has an off-shore facility based in India who you may need to liaise with directly.

Work will be mainly client brochures, annual reports, newsletters, advertisements, invitations, presentation material, exhibition stands, delegate packs, CD-ROMs, interactive PDFs.

Accountabilites & Responsibilities:
- Proactively build exemplary relationships with clients on the phone and in person
- Work with the senior designer to develop creative output of studio
- Formulate design brief working with client to challenge and gain clarity about the requirement, market audience and time frame. Negotiate and agree deadlines, prioritise and assign resources to meet business demand
- Ensure Creative Services adheres to defined service levels with particular attention to acknowledgement of requests, client communication and deadlines
- Ensure all relevant information is gained and correct business unit code is assigned - Keep clients informed in a timely fashion of the status of their work requests at an appropriate level and frequency
- Work closely with the Creative Services Manager to ensure all jobs are checked before submission to client.
- Where necessary support Creative Services Manager with studio admin such as project creation, client liaison etc
- Interact closely with Production Supervisor and Copy Centre staff to ensure on-time delivery of the overall job
- Conceptualise and execute design briefs in a variety of formats, including but not limited to design of routine pieces within existing templates, artworking of own design work where necessary, pre-press production, print production management/liaison with external print procurement manager and presentation to clients
- Liaise with the offshore team to provide clarification and guidance on best practices and brand compliance
- Work closely with Creative Services Manager / Account Manager to identify opportunities for improvement to the service and areas for growth

- Confident and articulate and able to liaise with clients at all levels
- Able to communicate effectively
- Proven track record as a designer preferably within a corporate environment
- Any digital/web design would be a distinct advantage as would any knowledge of front end coding

- Proactive with positive, high energy personality
- Highly creative, thoughtful and practical. Personal drive and motivation to succeed and self develop and keep ideas fresh and contemporary
- Clear communicator working with clients and the onshore and offshore teams, able to translate company and business goals into marketing collateral
- Excellent customer service skills
- Flexible and able to cope under pressure
- Excellent knowledge of the design process
- Team Player, i.e. commitment to assist other staff
- Ability to work autonomously and possess strong organisational skills

- A design qualification ideally graduate or HND
