Metadata Advocate 

Description:

The Metadata Advocate (MA) is responsible for identifying and filling gaps 
in the Video Products metadata, including images. This will encompass all steps of the 
process from pulling gap reports, monitoring the live services, interfacing with the 
metadata providers and programmers as well as creation and ingestion of acquired 
assets/data. The introductory focus will be on newer platforms and services, then 
progress to other platforms. Resource will also be responsible for developing and 
supporting on-going reporting efforts for metadata across platforms in order to identify 
and fill any further gaps. ​
 

Primary responsibilities: 
 Create, pull and manage gap reports 
 Coordinate with partners/ programmers to fill metadata info and image gaps 
 Provide new images that meet required distribution standards and specs 
 Secure approval for use of said images and metadata 
 Load said data/images into systems for ingestion and distribution 
 Support new metadata efforts as acquired to fill gaps 
 Build and analyze internal metadata and image coverage reports again vendor 
reports 
Role requires strong communication skills, time management and business assessment 
and prioritization. The tasks and programs lead by this team will range from daily efforts 
to long-term projects and ad-hoc emergency requests.

 Digital media formats, standards and codecs 
 Media distribution standards 
 Editing tools such as FinalCut Pro & Adobe Premier 
 Web-based file transfer tools and delivery systems, SFTP and FTP 
 Standard metadata and XML formats such as xls, xml
