Aquent's dynamic Fortune 500 client in Downtown Pittsburgh is looking for a Merchandising Director. This is a full time role (relo offered to selected candidate if applicable).

The Director of Merchandising provides leadership and direction to the merchandising staff. This position is responsible for developing and executing a profitable, customer-focused merchandising strategy, while enhancing the overall department. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Merchandising and leads an organization of merchant professionals. This associate works closely with the planning, marketing, product development, science, finance, and store operations teams to significantly improve the sales, profitability and maximize shareholder value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Sets overall strategy and merchandise direction for the division
•  Accountable for merchandise division performance, recommends revisions to the merchandise plan/forecast based on sound analysis and ensures corrective actions are implemented
• Full P&L responsibility across product categories.
• Manages team of merchants and support associates.
• Develops creative merchandising strategy that drives sales and profits
• Directs assortment selection process and reviews assortments for balance (brands, key items, core items, etc.) and adherence to strategic and financial objectives
• Works closely with product development and science teams to develop proprietary brands and products
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with his/her peers merchant teams
• Prepare and present business plans to cross funtional teams, peers and executive leadership teams.
• Ability to develop deep understanding of category performance, perform category reviews and identify opportunities for growth
• Establishes and maintains effective vendor relationships and works with team to strengthen market relationships and product and trend knowledge
• Understands online and store retailing competitors strengths, weaknesses and strategies, and develops effective counter strategies and plan
• Uses customer data to develop customer-focused merchandising strategy
• Anticipates market trends and develops a plan for response
• Coaches and develops merchant team and ensuring growth and readiness for next level position.
• Drives compliance and standards with processes, policies and tools within the group
• Partners with marketing, operations and customer experience teams to develop breakthrough and innovative programs and features
• Reviews and approves the promotional plans
