Medical Editor

Summary

The Medical Editor is responsible for a range of editorial services, including medical editing, copy
editing, proofreading, and fact checking of pharmaceutical marketing materials, internal and external
presentations, and corporate communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in development phase to initiate consistency in content and presentation outline
• Participate in the content review process throughout all stages of a job: review content of each
project for grammar, spelling, clarity, fulfillment of creative brief, correct client and AMA style, and
appropriate and accurate referencing
• Fact check material. On occasion, editors may be called upon to annotate material as well
• Follow up with authors and account management team on content revisions
• Interface with writers, account teams, production, and other staff to increase ease of project
completion
• Represent department at internal start up and status meetings
• Ensure all pieces are compliant with each client’s unique medical/legal submission process
• Assist with the medical/legal/regulatory submission preparation as needed
• Other projects may include writing and creating internal or corporate materials

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in English, Writing or similar field
• 3-5 years experience in the advertising and/or marketing industry experience
• Thorough knowledge of AMA (10th edition) style
• Ability to prioritize deadline-sensitive projects
• Travel up to 25%
