Materials Researcher

We are currently looking for a Materials Researcher on a full time basis.

Summary
Through close interaction with global liaison offices and Product Creation Team partners, Materials Research Analyst will manage the development of seasonal materials from concept to commercialization within established timelines as well as liaise with R&D in the establishment, validation, commercialization and execution of corporate innovative platforms.

Responsibilities:
Work within an assigned category and with Design and Sourcing Teams, determine seasonal needs identify regions/suppliers based on established Source Plan while utilizing working knowledge of suppliers’ abilities/limitations and strengths/weaknesses to ensure high standards of performance can be met in development as well as reproduced in bulk.

Collaborate with Global Liaison Offices in regards to supplier placement, specific performance, aesthetic and testing needs as well as offer technical guidance during the development process and bulk.

Work with Costing Department for support in ensuring costs are analyzed and intelligently negotiated to best possible price based on current market conditions.

Attend assigned category’s Product Creation Team meetings and style reviews to communicate development status, performance and/or potential general issues and cost as well as to stay informed of changes in direction or needs as the seasonal line plan evolves then work with Liaison Offices to execute.

Review all trials and sales samples, evaluate (performance and aesthetics) and comment to Liaison Offices to ensure established quality is maintained and fully commercialized prior to first buy.

Stay abreast of new technologies in the textile market and pursue innovation at all times.

Must have working knowledge of textiles, familiarity with textile construction methods and manufacturing, materials testing and appropriate interaction of lab results as they pertain to products.


Education and/or Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in textiles and/or three or more years’ experience in materials development/materials laboratory, sourcing or related field.
