Responsible for assisting SOP writing process, collaborating closely with Materials Research, Quality Assurance and Lab testing teams to ensure that Material Quality integrity is maintained. Provide assistance on the project management; provide computer skills on preparing charts, classifying data. Work with team members to ensure that quality requirements well understood and communicated timely to relevant parties both internally and externally .
Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities:
The priority is collecting data for the existing projects, assisting to update the test specs
Specific areas of focus include:
Assist building Testing specs in excel when needed, be able to communicate to internal teams for review, lab test SOPs generation.
Provide support for SOP creation collaborating closely with team members to ensure specification and processes described are as accurate as possible. Offer suggestions, changes to improve Lab operations.
Identify any testing info that needs to be communicated to the MR and LO MR.
Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
Maintain reports, records, files, samples pertaining to the process or styles.
Basic knowledge of fabric testing associated with the development process.
Ensure quality is maintained to established Columbia Sportswear standards.
Demonstrates the ability to provide assistance on projects realted to Quality and Lab testing. Job responsibilities are carried out in a work environment that consists of both recurring and non-recurring work situations. Job involves a moderate degree of detail or complexity. Incumbent operates from some established procedures and may be asked to contribute to the development of new ones. Job tasks are performed under a moderate level of supervision. Work is spot checked or proofed against a standard or original and by results. Errors in judgment can cause delays in production process.
Close communication with Materials research, Quality Assurance, Product Development and Liaison Offices Partners is vital to performance and success of position. Contacts are normally made with others inside the company and concern the exchange of information and some problem solving. Contacts always include confidential or sensitive information. Contacts are usually made at the request of the Designers and/or own initiative, most of which is made via face-to-face interaction.
Specific Job Skills:
Requires excellent analytical skills. Possess basic knowledge of textile testing process, quality concepts for apparel and fabrics. Must have excellent computer skills for Excel Access and PC formats and be familiar with the Adobe Illustrator program. Possess basic knowledge of materials and functional aspects of garments. Ability to work under pressure, to meet strict timelines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Possess good written and verbal communication skills to deal with various levels of management and employees within the organization as well as vendors and world wide personnel.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in textile/business related field is preferred.
One to two years’ experience in the apparel industry.
Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week, especially when working on rush/special projects.
