Marketing Mgr - Buyer

A successful Buyer will have the responsibility for managing and driving multiple category businesses for the corporate stores. This includes driving the assortment, promotions and relationships necessary to build upon our existing merchandising strategy. It also means you will support and mold processes as needed to get work done in an effective, collaborative way.

As we expand our online stores globally, a broad merchandise strategy that includes a world class assortment of 1st and 3rd party products is pivotal to our success. Effectively assorting the right products means striking a fine balance between establishing a unique and innovative selection to drive interest and traffic and driving significant revenue growth and affinity for the stores.

The Buyer needs to possess a solid track record of results realized in his/her career (defined by sales, margins, customer satisfaction and effective processes) coupled with an expert knowledge of the business in terms of trends, demand analysis and promotion efficacy.

Key Responsibilities/
• Responsible for the online assortment of products in Canada
• Set pricing through margin analysis and competitor research
• Own the launch of new 1st party in Stores, ensuring on-time launch and best-in-class execution
• Plan promotions to drive category sales (rolling 12 months calendar)
• Align promotions with internal Product Groups
• Negotiate contract terms with OEMs and Suppliers and maintain supplier relations
• Guide the stores’ business based on market analysis, intuition and actual results
• Drive buy-in of merchandise selection among senior leaders, ensuring adequate allocation
• Interaction: OSM, Site Merchandising, Category Managers and Vendors, among others.

Key Competencies/Knowledge/Experiences
• Must have: Bachelor’s Degree, minimum 5-6 years of relevant experience, with at least 3-4 years of Buying and Supplier Management experience in a Hardline category
• Preferred qualifications: inventory planning experience, prior technology or consumer electronics experience
• Demonstrated track record of driving results with integrity and focus on long term strategic imperatives
• Sense of ownership, can-do attitude and data-driven
• Keen ability to effectively analyze and apply findings about industry dynamics
• Outstanding ability to establish and drive world-class merchandising processes
• Track record for establishing trusting relationships and communications with senior executives
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries
• Excellent account management and negotiation abilities
