Marketing Manager

One of our top financial services clients is seeking a Marketing Manager with 5+ years of experience in the investment industry on a 6+ month contract basis.

Our client has been effective in developing a strong Marketing function that supports and enhances the Sales approach upon which the company has been built. Our client's Marketing team is responsible for initiating, developing, executing and analyzing targeted initiatives directed towards financial advisers and other select intermediaries. In this role the Marketing Manager will be part of a dynamic team that will contribute to taking our client's marketing approach to the next level, increasing its contribution and effectiveness.

The responsibilities of the Marketing Manager include:
• Partners with business areas for planning and development of strategic marketing initiatives
• Project planning, development, management, and execution for fully-integrated marketing plans for specific business areas as well as enterprise-wide initiatives
o Determine project objectives and develop internal consensus for positioning.
o Design and write marketing plans/briefs outlining specific marketing activities to support business, sales and marketing initiatives
o Coordinate with various internal and external constituents, including prioritization, delegation and monitoring of tasks
o Execute the plan
o Perform full marketing program analysis, incorporating multiple factors such as time-based program efficacy, external market events, and industry trends; describe overall impact of program and recommend changes when needed
• Initiates and executes pilot marketing programs
• Owns and monitors day-to-day activity of ongoing marketing programs
• Plans, develops and executes e-mail campaigns in close collaboration with the Web and Communications teams
• Partners with Project Office and IT to shape scope and functionality of new systems

The Marketing Manager will work closely with other internal constituents, including other lines of business, Marketing Research, Business Analysis, Web, Communications, Dealer Relations, IT, Project Office, the Divisional Business Units and other entities. The incumbent may also interact with external constituents such as financial advisers, dealer/platform home office contacts, and a variety of third party product/service providers.

Desired skills/qualifications:

• Ability to lead and manage complex projects across multiple teams or groups.

• Ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives.

• Effective facilitation of a complex of meetings.

• In-depth knowledge of the mutual fund industry and ability to apply it to projects

• In-depth knowledge of marketing techniques and best practices and ability to apply it to projects

• Aptitude for or working knowledge of various internal and external business systems (e.g. ExactTarget email system, salesforce.com, etc.) and the ability to apply it to projects

• Extensive experience briefing and reviewing creative work/agencies (print and on-line/digital)

• Extensive experience using analytics/metrics to better design and evaluate marketing programs

• Proven track record of developing and running successful marketing campaigns

• 5+ years experience, preferably in marketing or related area. Retirement plan knowledge/experience a plus
