Marketing Lead

We’re looking for a strategic marketer who can lead our storytelling and integrated marketing in collaboration with the Sr. Sustainable Design Program Manager.

The ideal candidate is a curious, insightful and critical thinker who can quickly synthesize creative conversations into clear tasks, and follow through on them. He/she can confidently lead projects, and take responsibility for structuring communications, managing partnerships, developing and driving web and social media content, managing public relations, and other marketing activities to support program awareness, adoption, use, and engagement. This person will need to move seamlessly between program strategy and day-to-day execution. Creative, thoughtful writing is an essential skill.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Marketing strategy and execution: Identify creative channels and means of advancing project goals. Develop a marketing strategy that aligns with program milestones. Plan and execute tactical activities aligned with this strategy (examples: email campaigns, web and social media content, partner co-marketing, PR stories).
• Storytelling and framing: Co-develop and/or curate inspiring stories (web, print, and video) about our users’ successes, tools, and programs. Share stories across various media to drive engagement.
• Content marketing: Create and maintain an editorial calendar to communicate priority content across various channels to attract, acquire and engage the target audience. Develop content as needed.
• Metrics and reporting: Manage a metrics dashboard to keep track of progress to goals and objectives. Prepare and present regular reports on progress and learnings that will inform and adjust future marketing activities.
• Strategic relationship management: Identify, vet and manage strategic partnerships for co-development and/or distribution of education offerings, and co-marketing activities, such as content syndication, design competitions, sponsored events, etc.
• Web marketing: Work with web and editorial leads to review and improve web content as needed. Provide user experience input and make offerings compelling, digestible, and clear. Leverage reporting and analytics to inform web strategy.
• Market research: Conduct market research to identify trends and best practices that can inform our programs and marketing strategy.
• Event management: Identify, prioritize, prepare, and manage events (sponsorships, speaking opportunities, exhibits, etc.).
• Vendors and budget management: Manage vendor relationships and oversee a marketing budget.

Requirements (experience)

• Experience, curiosity and domain knowledge in making, design and sustainability strongly preferred. A critical eye for good design is a significant plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related role. Degree in communications, design preferred.
• Knows how to develop and execute a marketing strategy: including goal setting and metrics that map to program objectives, strategy, and tactics.
• Experience with budget management preferred.

• Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and strong decision making skills. Must have ability to understand and communicate thoughtfully about technology and design.
• Excellent project coordination and organizational skills. Exceptional attention to detail necessary.
• Independently driven and comfortable in a start-up entrepreneurial role, and ready and willing to operate at both at a strategic and tactical project level.
• Proven track record for bringing new ideas and a creative vision to their work.
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
• Proven collaboration and people skills and the ability to work with cross-functional, global and remote teams. Must thrive on working in a team, being transparent in their work, feeling comfortable asking questions and bouncing ideas with others. This role requires a collaborative person at the core.
• Drive and passion. Someone eager to make a difference through their work, and willing and able to take initiative and be proactive.
