Marketing Editor/Proofreader (French/English)

One of AQUENT's biggest clients in Canada is seeking a Marketing Editor/Proofreader to be part of their in-house creative team.

Ideal candidate will have advertising agency and big brand creative content editing experience

What you’ll be doing:
• Editing for a variety of channels, including direct mail and email (sounds boring, but it’s actually a lot of fun).
• Working closely with our Compliance and Legal teams to help keep us out of trouble with our regulators.
• Reviewing and revising marketing materials and customer communications to ensure consistency with brand standards as well as legal/compliance and editorial guidelines.
• Maintaining a fundamental understanding of our processes and products, including marketing language and the accompanying legal disclosures.
• Recognizing and raising potential issues throughout the creative review process.

What you need to have:
• Right-brain smarts: Excellent proofreading and writing skills (duh). If typos and bad grammar make you cringe, and improper punctuation gives you the willies, we want you.
• Left-brain smarts: Strong ability to recognize potential legal/compliance issues.
• Strong command of Canadian French language, including grammar, punctuation and spelling.
• Excellent knowledge of English and ability to communicate in both languages easily.
• A sharp eye for detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tight turnaround times.
• Excellent computer skills (PC), including Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work well alone and play nicely with others.

What we’ll be looking for:
• 1 to 3 years of creative copy-editing experience.
• Previous experience in the Canadian credit card industry or financial services would be ideal, but is not a requirement.
• Knowledge of cultural differences specific to Québec.
• Some experience working alongside Compliance and/or Legal teams (nice to have but not a deal-breaker).
• Journalism degree/diploma is a definite plus.
