Marketing Database Analyst

Our large financial services client in downtown Boston is looking for a Marketing Database analyst for a long-term contract assignment. The Marketing Database Analyst will lead and perform complex analysis in an evolving data environment. In addition to very strong technical skills, this position requires superb business process analysis and interpersonal skills. The ability to extract and analyze data, patterns, and related trends is needed, with the subsequent ability to synthesize the data into information consumable by senior business decision-makers.

Must have technical understanding & database development requirements::

• Possess solid knowledge and skills with primary database platforms, such as Oracle, Sybase, Postgres, Netezza, cubes, and/or generic ODBC.
• Possess solid knowledge and skills with primary data management/analytics frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, SAS, Informatica, Vectorwise).
• Possess solid knowledge and skills with technology-independent database skills, including advanced SQL queries, complex ETL processes, filtering, table creation, and results validation.
• Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential application.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

• Participate in project meetings and helps set direction for initiatives.
• Identify resources needed, project dependencies, and critical path items.
• Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
• Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
• Effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors.
• Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
• Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Leadership

• Assist team members with development plans and goals.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
• Manage the process of innovative change effectively.
• Consistently acknowledge and appreciate each team member's contributions.
• Effectively utilize each team member to his/her fullest potential.
• Mitigate team conflict and communication problems.
4. Stakeholder Interaction
• Present concepts and proposals to stakeholders via formal and informal presentations.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions, including cost/benefit tradeoffs between competing approaches.
• Continually seek opportunities to increase stakeholder satisfaction and deepen working relationships.
