Marketing Copywriter / Editor

Develops, writes and/or edits a variety of print and collateral pieces including, but not limited to, ads, fliers, direct mail, newsletters, brochures, sales presentations, scripts and so forth for a variety of audiences. Builds strong client relationships in order to understand material content/usage for appropriate writing and editing needs.

Essential Functions:

Writes or rewrites copy for creative campaigns as requested.

Writes or edits copy to meet specific reading levels and adheres to approved corporate style and branding standards to ensure consistency in copy and design.

Corrects errors in type, format, grammar, punctuation and spelling (notes corrections electronically and on paper using standard proofreader's marks).

Ensures accuracy of material through additional research and escalates concerns to key stakeholders regarding content that may need re-review.

Collaborates with designers and other project team members to communicate clear and effective messages.

Maintains and applies knowledge of health care regulatory marketing guidelines to keep content consistent and compliant.

Documents and provides proofs with marked corrections to be revised and reviewed.

Assists as needed on internal (corporate) assignments.

Participates in department key initiative teams.

Performs other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor's Degree in English, communications, journalism or related field.

3+ years of writing and/or editing experience in a health care, agency, corporate or internal creative services department. Experience in an agency or in-house agency setting is highly beneficial, as is a working knowledge of AP Style.

Special Skills (e.g. 2nd language):

Strong ability to understand complex material and question gaps in information or accuracy

Ability to meet set deadlines in a high-production environment with changing priorities

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Strong time management skills

Ability to work independently as well as communicate effectively with internal staff and departments

Ability to work in a team setting with various internal departments

Technical Skills/Requirements: Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
