The Silicon Valley communications manager will be responsible for serving as the main point of contact for all internal and external communications related to the redevelopment of our Silicon Valley campus and supporting the employee communications plan. The person will be located in our SVC offices, collaborating closely with full-time HR, Real Estate, and comms employees in those offices, as well as partners and employees in Redmond, WA.
This role will serve in an “air-traffic control” capacity, absorbing and synthesizing information related to our redevelopment plan and then creating and executing a cogent, strategic communications plan. This person will also be responsible for creating external announcements and stories for pitching to press in the Silicon Valley as part of managing the company presence in this market. This project will entail a significant amount – and blend – of stakeholder management, communications/PR expertise, strategic plan development, presenting to leaders/employees, and managing a multi-faceted communications pipeline. There will also be a healthy amount of narrative building and media relations management associated with this project. This individual will identify opportunities to benefit from sharing SVC redevelopment news & stories. This individual will categorize all “audiences” for messaging along with specific objectives to be reached.
In partnership with the employee comms team, this individual will ensure all internal stakeholder needs are accounted for and addressed in specific communications and messaging. In addition, they will support the broader SVC employee comms operations to drive work related to turning employees into fans as the campus redevelopment project is underway.
The multi-year nature, and scale, of the redevelopment project makes it a potentially rich headline on a number of fronts (enhancing technical/engineering recruiting, positive citizenship & community member, leader in sustainability efforts and excellence in workplace & amenities, real estate industry innovation). This individual will understand all of these opportunities and create plans & actions to ensure the right audiences are reached with rich & insightful messages & story telling. This individual will partner closely with RE&F in development of story lines and ensure the appropriate involvement of personnel in delivery of messages.
- Minimum 3-7+ years of PR and Corporate Communications background focused on external and internal communications. Media Relations experience. Familiar with local media and region. Experience managing large development projects. Experience with other campus developments or local community building projects.
- Degrees: BA in marketing and comm is preferred but not a deal breaker
