Marketing Communications Consultant

Our F500 Payment Technology company in San Francisco is looking for an experienced Marketing Communications Manager/Consultant is to oversee project development, monitor trends and performance of campaigns, and develop campaigns to drive awareness and understanding in support of key initiatives. Strong skill sets in finances and reporting is required in this position.

This is a 6 months+ contract with potential for extension in San Francisco, 40 hours/ week.


Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support Corporate Communications on basic media relations activities including development of media lists, conducting email media outreach, light media pitching, screening and reporter requests)
• Develop executive briefing books in support of communications initiatives
• Conduct reporter research for news announcements
• Produce media recap and performance reports
• Manage the development of Small Business Chip Education Tour including partner outreach, media relations, event management, general communications activities (agenda, panelist questions, etc.)
• Copy editing in support of projects for both marketing and corporate communications
• Support Merchant Marketing team in the development of customized materials for major name-brand merchants (includes project management, agency relations, creative)
• Evaluate financial aspects of project including budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment and profit-loss projections
• Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote products and services, working with advertising and promotion managers
• Support the development of and identification of marketing strategies for merchants, including customized projects for major name-brand merchants
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and distributors to manage product distribution, establishing distribution networks and developing distribution strategies
• Other marketing and communications activities as needed

Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or equivalent training required
• 8+ years related experience required. Preferably in-house experience and/or agency environment
• Typically operates as the manager of the marketing team/unit. May have supervisory responsibilities over marketing analysts and other contractors. .

Skills
• Verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required)
• Expert ability to work independently and manage one’s time (Required)
• Strong knowledge of Public Relations techniques including social media
• Expert knowledge on managing agencies in the development of projects (budget, work statements, project management)
